This is a new and very scary one for me... very sudden onset of symptoms and looking for ideas / opinions.
While syringe feeding a baby today (12 weeks, 325grams... Zoey from the Z-Pak) she had an episode where she pulled away from the syringe (was the second she was taking), started to convulse and regurgitating blood and eventually coming from her nose as well. Quite a bit of blood; I would describe it as copious amounts for a small squee. I rushed off to the vets not thinking she'd make it but she got much better and then something set her off at the vets and she had another episode albeit lesser but afterwards she was very sedate and not doing well. I have been keeping her isolated in a separate room, dark and quite since excitement seems to get her spitting up the blood.
I thought "best case" was her teeth punctured her palate or tongue but that is not the case.
X-Ray showed fluid (presumably blood) in her lungs. Vet administered SQ Baytril and Vit-K. He thinks maybe septicemia and was very pessimistic about her chances of survival.
Been wanting to get this posted all day but its been a very busy day and the vet's was a long time since they were running a rabies clinic. Zoey is doing well this eve, much more energetic but far from 100%. She is "phhtting" a bit presumably from blood in her nostrils.
Could this be something else that requires a different treatment?!?!?
