I released a male fox squirrel (Rocky) about six weeks ago who is about nine months old now. He's been doing real well. However just now when I had a chance to hold him, I noticed a small wound in on his outer body toward his left thigh. It looks pretty recent, though the fur around it has crusted up. It looks like a scab is forming, though I noticed some slight blood when I was wiping the area with a tissue. I don't see any alteration in his behavior, or the way he scampers around. So I assume he's in no pain. If I get the opportunity, should I apply any antisceptic ? Or warm water to dry to clean the fur around the wound ?
Please advise,
As always, many thanks !

My released guy recently had some wounds as well. I cleaned the with diluted betadine and applied an antibiotic salve. One of the injuries was on one of his front legs, so he wasn't getting around too well. I put him back in the release cage for a couple days to tend to his wounds and let him rest.
I was also advised to start an antibiotic because of the possibility of the injuries being cat inflicted. I gave him several doses of abs, but because of the proximity of the wounds to each other, the consensus was that they were probably inflicted by another squirrel. He's back out in the trees doing well.
Do you think the wounds could be from a cat?

I don't think so, probably from another squirrel.
