Need an advise ASAP on the best Brand of a cage you experienced guys could recommend. I am rehabbing 2 squirrels since their 2/4th day of birth. Found them on a backyard ground after tree trimmers apparently knocked down the nest. I felt terrible about them loosing their Mom. I believe they are Eastern Fox squirrels or look close to that type. I am in TX. At this moment they are 9 and a half weeks and about 360/400 grams, and very active. They definitely in a need of a bigger space but I am a bit confused which cage to get as I read a lot of conflicting info on how bad paneled cages and such. i do know it is supposed to be for ferrets. Henry's house cage has been suggested as a good one here on the forum but there is only one shelf in there. Is there are better ones for 2 siblings? Please help! Thank you

I have the critter nation double. It's a bit pricy but worth it. It is the best cage I could ask for right now and is very heavy duty. U can get them all over, from petco to Amazon.

I found a super tall cat cage I used for two squirrels on Craigslist for $100. I also saw a lot of Ferret and Critter nation cages on there and on a website called offerup as well. I bought the cat cage because it was bigger.

Big mistake. The cat cage had a heavy plastic base on wheels and plastic shelves and the rest was metal. They chewed through the floor and chewed the shelves to plastic stumps.

So my advice is a used critter or ferret nation cage or a large metal bird cage (which were more expensive).

Good luck!

Cava is exactly right...I have found some excellent deals on Craigslist....my husband is always looking for me:great a standard critter nation or ferret nation cage will be fine for 2 squirrels ....and they do sound like Fox squirrels with that weight at 9 weeks :great thanks for saving them...and at such an early age...kudos for a tough job, done well :bowdown I have used metal bird cages and various ferret cages...but I'm sold on ferret nation cages...first because the vertical bars were safer for my paralyzed squirrel and they tend to run cheaper:great I do have a critter nation for my flyers because they can slip in and out of the ferret nation bars :eek :grin3 my eastern greys do well and your larger Foxers will be fine. I personally would keep a close eye out for either cage...Craigslist and Trash and Treasure sites would also be good :great good luck :Love_Icon
