Quick rundown of Sammy's history. He's had white tears nearly as long as I've had him (Aug 28th). In Oct he was started on clavamox for possible infection in his face. About two weeks later I discovered a hole in the roof of his mouth and we switched in to clindamyacin. In December I took him to a vet 3 hours away and she had me switch him to baytril and take him off clindamycin. After a few days we put him back on clinda with the baytril because his white tears increased. On 3/24 the fab Dr. E removed four bad teeth, cleaned out the dead bone in the hole and closed it. She had me discontinue the clinda and start clavamox (he was also on metacam for a few days). Today is day 10 being off clinda and on clavamox. He's having a large amount of white tears when they show up. I'm wondering if I should put him back on clinda. Should I switch him? Can he have both? Should I even be concerned at this point? My guy is just telling me he might need to be back on clinda. The hole looks great. His mouth looks really good. I just don't want to ignore any sign that may result in this thing opening back up. I'm going to email Dr. E but wanted to see what y'all suggested as I really don't want to bug her if y'all feel I'm being paranoid.

I honestly don't know. When I had my guy on meds that Dr. E prescribed and I felt it wasn't working she told me to go back to the one that had been working. I thought the white tears were a sign of pain? I hope someone that knows more about meds comes on soon. Sorry I couldn't be more help.

You are not being paranoid. No one knows Sammy as good as you do.
He can have both. I would start the Clindamycin tonight.

I would definitely contact DrE first thing tomorrow. Even if she thinks it's a bad idea one or two doses won't hurt. She might want to add something else (maybe Metronidazole)

Sammy's white tears only show up in the eye that's right above where the hole was. When he first had his surgery he had them in both eyes once, maybe twice and I felt that it was pain then. I think this goes back more to the issues he's really always had. I'll dose him with clinda and clavamox in the morning and make a call to her to see what she suggests. I just want to make sure I stay ahead of any issues so that nothing causes a set back for him. I've been watching and waiting but I'm at the point where it's causing me a little unease. He's getting harder and harder to give meds to as well.

Better yet, I'm going to give him the clinda when I go snuggle him before I go to bed in a few. Thanks for the input. I'll go with my gut now that I know it's okay.
