Today my squirrel's vocalizations have changed. She usually makes these noises but it's almost like she's congested. She sounds like a duck. I've listened to her breathing and there is no clicking or wheezing. She is eating treats fine as well as her favorite veggies but not as much as she did the past few weeks. My husband recently passed away so I had to downgrade her from a room to a cage temporarily. She has on occasion gotten her nose caught trying to push it through the door of the cage but that usually has some evident swelling. There isn't any swelling on her nose. I gave her a new wood chew within the past week as well. Her teeth are fine. She wants to run around but she is also suspiciously easier to catch and handle when I need to put her back in the cage. A little lethargy maybe since she isn't fighting me as much? I can't upload an mp3 so I need someone I can possibly email it to.

Should be worth noting that I have to give her medication by syringe twice daily. She fought me yesterday and the syringe plunger probably got depressed too fast. The medication went mostly on me instead of in her mouth though. But again, I don't hear any sick sounds from her chest.

:grouphug LeilaNami :grouphug I am so sorry to hear about your husband. I don't even know what to say. Such devastating news.
I hope you have someone helping you through this sad time.

I'm not sure what's causing the congestion. I always worry about the teeth though. I would keep an eye on it. If other symptoms develop like a tearing eye or indications of pain, I would try to get her to your vet for an X-ray of the head. If your vet wants Dr.E to consult on the films I'm sure she would. Hopefully it's nothing more than an allergy or something. This is your seizure girl right? I looked back ... I don't see her name, maybe I missed it. :tilt How is that going? The last time you posted her seizures were mostly gone.

Again, I am so sorry about your loss. :(

Thank you, HRT. I'm at someone else's house right now for help (hence the downgrade). Yes, this is my seizure girl. She has frequent myoclonic seizures (a quick 1-2 second muscle jerk in her right arm) that don't effect her much but her convulsive seizures are pretty well controlled.

It seems the congested sound may have been a false alarm. I steamed up the bathroom last night and today she sounds normal.
