Hi Everyone!! Ya Ya I am still here and the home is full of wildlife. Been a busy year so far :)
BUT
I do have a problem
I got a new one last night, just one -- the other one in the nest did not survive ( workers cut a tree down not knowing a nest was in it and the one was killed when it fell they called me for the other)
Anyways has some fur eyes closed weighs 68 grams. so 3 to 4 weeks old. Feeding powered Esbilac every 4 hours 2 to 3 cc
Pretty normal and what i do for all the babies
except woke up this morning and this little guy (named Mickey) has diarrhea.
I am HOPING it is from the change of mommas milk to esbilac
first time I have had a diarrhea problem so the 9 AM feeding I cut back and only fed him 1.5 CC maybe just add some water to the feedings?
do i wait this out?
Am I panicking too soon?
Suggestions?
Starla :)
PS The lady from lakeland that gave me the boy squirrel a few weeks ago (think you called him herman?) we are hoping to move him outside next week into the squirrel house! He is big eats like a Hoover and his tail that the dog got is just fine ..a lil short but fine :)

I know you know this, but just writing it anyway. At ~70 grams he should be taking 3.5 -4.9 every feeding.
BUT since you just got him last night feeding less may be ok for a short time.
Do you feed him at night as well?
In other words this is 4 hours round the clock?
This could just be a transition from Momma's milk to Esbilac, time will tell.
I would hydrate in between feedings with Pedialyte. When they vomit or have diarrhea they
lose electrolytes.
Give Pedialyte for no more than 24 hours.
IF this continues, start the BRAT diet.
(Partial) Brat Formula Mix
3 tablespoons (already) mixed formula 2-1
1/2 tsp baby rice powered cereal
1/2 tsp banana baby food.
It's great seeing you back on here, please keep us posted.

Hi Hi Nancy :)
Yup I know he needs more but the first day i usually feed a lil less (his case it was 3 cc until this mornings poop fiasco all over me!) and ya I do around the clock with them.
I will add some pedialyte today and see how that goes think i will stay at the 3 cc's also. All these squirrels and I am pretty sure this is the first one ever with diarrhea
Do you remember gizmo with the broken leg? SMH he is nothing but an outdoor pet seriously. I do not think he has wandered 100 feet from the house. I go outside and he sees me and its like MOMMY and he runs over to me and up my leg, sits on my shoulder. I go into the chicken coop and have to shoo him off me!
Ya love these little creatures :)
will let you know how the next couple of days goes with Mickey :) hopefully it is the transition

Well who could EVER forget little Gizmo!
Fluffer broke that same leg when he was first released.....and yes,
almost 7 years now and he still is here! :)
I absolutely adore your boy. I'm so glad he is still a Momma's boy.
What a special bond you two have!
Please keep us posted on your little Mickey...........and Gizmo too if you get a chance. :hug
