I have a flyer who suddenly started having diarrhea. I have raised multiple baby flyers and fox squirrels. This guy I've had for 2 weeks. As of a couple of days ago he started having soft gray stool., now he has watery yellowish to clear diarrhea. He has been fine with the formula I have been feeding esbilac 1 part formula 2 parts water. I did give him a tiny piece of pecan like 3 days ago. Other then that diet hasn't changed. He is still pretty active around feeding times. Any advice.? He eats 4 times a day every 4-5 hours. And eats anywhere from 1-1.5cc.
Also any tips for keeping this little guy warm. I keep him in a tote inside a shoe box with a heating pad but after a while he gets away from the heat but then doesn't go back and I find him freezing hardly moving until I get him back heated up again. This little guy is giving me trouble.

I don't know anything about flyers. Diarrhea can come from over feeding. Are you feeding at 5-7% of his weight?

As for keeping him warm. You could use a rice buddy (rice in a dock, tied, and heated in the microwave) Just be sure you squish it really well to be sure there aren't any hot spots. Some people use the ceramic pet discs. You can find them on the Internet. You warm them in the microwave and the warmth can last for 10 hours.

So you have him in a shoe box inside a tote with the heating pad under 1/2 of the tote on the outside?

I think I wouldtake teh shie box out and line the bottom of the tote with a fleece layer then put a bunch of cut up fleece in the tote. How big is the tote? I think a
2'x 1.5' tote with a snap on lid would be a good size for now. You want it large enough so he can move off of heat but not too far. Make sure you put lots of hole's in the tote around the top and in the top.

As for the diarrhea the Flyer experts will have to answer that. Are you using the Esbilac Powder with the pre and pro biotics (white puppy on the front of the can)?
NOT the already mixed in the can stuff either not good.
You need to mix it up and use it within 24 hours also.

Diarrhea got better then came back., yes I'm using the esbilac powder and pro biotic I'm thinking maybe it's from over eating., I'm currently cutting down what he eats.
And the reason for the shoe box in the tote., is bc I had that exact way you mentioned but he would get away from the heat and on top of the blankets and shreds and I would find him cold cold cold. Bc he wouldn't go back to the heat on his own., so I put the shoe box in there., less space for him to move but still can get away from heat., yet he still goes away from the heat and still won't go back when he gets cold., and I still find him cold. I've used rice in socks etc. just trying to find other tips and tricks bc he gets so
Cold almost lifeless. Till I put him back. So I check on him often to make sure he isn't in the corner freezing on the edge of the heating pad or the very top of a blanket.

To give an idea of the set up. He is in a tote almost the size of the heating pad the tote is probably an inch bigger on all 4 sides. And that's where the squirrel goes. On the sides or in a corner. And then freezes. The heating pad is under about 1/2 inch of blanket then the shoe box has a small thin blanket with shreds. He is staying warmer that way but I'm still finding him freezing cold often bc he won't go back to the heat., less then what I was without the shoebox..
