Foxie is the first squirrel I have raised. I rescued her about 1.5 weeks ago and everything seems to be going well. When I first started feeding her we had a little bit of constipation problem and I read on the Squirrel Board that apple juice was good for that. I have not had any problems in the last week, her stool is nice, not loose, not too hard. Right now she eats 7.5 cc of formula and I have been giving her 1.5 cc of apple juice each feeding. The apple juice I am feeding is 100% apple, I have attached a photo of the label to this post. She just loves the stuff. Question: Is there a problem feeding her apple juice with each feeding? 285920

No that's not a problem, but let's look at what might be causing the constipation. Is the squirrel well hydrated, what formula are you feeding and at what ratio are you diluting it at?

When I first got her she was a little dehydrated, we solved that with pedilite. Then she was having problems adjusting to formula. That's when I started the Apple Juice. When I stopped the Apple Juice she would get a little constipated but not bad so I added it in again. She is on powdered Esbilac puppy mixed 2 parts water to 1 part formula. Now she is over 4 weeks and we are starting to move her over to Fox Valley Day One formula 20/50. At this time, we don't have problem, she poops and pees at each feeding. She just loves the Apple Juice so I hate to take it away from her.

Along as she is eating her formula at the recommended 5-7% per each feeding I dont see why she can't have a little apple juice each day, just not at each feeding as you still need to watch her daily sugar intake.
