I am trying to incorporate more of the outdoor world into my male's diet (he's almost 7 months old), but I'm too paranoid to just walk outside and bring some flowers/branches in. And I hate it because I know he would LOVE it! I'm in the southeast and my yard includes magnolia trees, 1 pine tree, red buds, cherry blossoms, azaleas (pretty sure these are a no-no), daffodils, knock-put roses, Indian hawthorns, chrysanthemum, butterfly bush, crepe myrtle, Japanese magnolia, and unfortunately kudzu. Some other shrubs that I'm not of their name. What can I give him? Help! And thank you!!

:wave123 Redbud, crepe myrtle...I know for sure, from personal experience, these are safe:great rose buds and flowers are also good...not sure what knock put roses are...but if they are roses:great I do believe cherry branches and buds are good too:grin3 the magnolia cone left from the flower is edible too. Dogwood branches not sure about the flowers, forsythia, Rose of Sharon, maple branches and helicopters are a treat :great dandelions too:great

All sound good except wild cherry -- for some reason I have read in more than one place that those are not good for them to chew on.

Thank you!! It was a typo - I meant Knock-Out Roses (just a plain ole rose bush) - will keep this in mind as it starts to form buds and blooms!

On the crepe Myrtle, are all varieties Ok? I have Natchez type and the normal type. Are all parts ok? Branches, leaves and flowers?? I have not given him them yet. He loves hibiscus, roses, rose of sharon and oak. Also cactus pads, no thorns of coarse.

I eat dandelions. They are delicious. I know roses are OK, maples too (they think these are especially yummy. They eat bark and buds. The others, I don't know.

How about Magnolia Leave? I see the cones are ok, but I want to be extra careful. :tap
