Red skin on stomach?

Lately I've noticed that my 1 y/o male squirrel, Bandit, has some red skin on his stomach. It's where the thin hair around his lower belly and private bits are. It doesn't seem to be bothering him, not itchy or terribly inflamed, and doesn't seem overly warm to the touch...but it's definitely red and I'm not sure if it's natural or not for a squirrel? I'm not 100% positive, but I believe the hair there has thinned a bit, as well. Doesn't seem to be effecting any other part of his body.

I have checked him for fleas, and haven't seen any around his lighter bits, but I could be missing them in the dark hair of his back. Should I treat him just in case?

Sure! He looks terribly thin in these photos, but it's just him stretching out trying to wriggle away :gigg
