I Hope I am in the right forum..........

Luna has been lethargic and chirpy for several days.... sometimes not eating well.... I put this down to her "teeth"
but she would take boo balls, liquid health shakes for the most part....... until today. { Her gums look OK }

She has lost weight.

For several days she has been staying in her nest box except when I MAKE her come out and pee or go into a play room
so I can view her and she can move around a little. I did make her come out around 9am today so she could PEE........
she did not cry but stood for a LONG time trying and trying........ she did pee some but she just kept on trying for 3 more minutes.

I put her on top of her cage and she nibbled a little on some of her food but then started trying again to pee....... nothing.
{I let her free in the living room for a short time so I could observe her ..... over and over squat like trying to pee.
I put her back into her cage and she went into her nest box >>>>> a short time later I reached in to touch her and she felt hotter than normal....
I gave her 0.10 of Ibuprofen.... my thought was that she may be going through another of her monthly - bimonthly whenever
problem with her female parts.... UNTIL ..........

She stayed out of her box on her platform for 30 minutes laying, squatting, checking herself etc ...... straining to GO ? ?
She has NEVER done that when she was having her female problem.

She would lay on her tummy with her head down or on it's side...... then get up and try again.... she did this over and over. she looks terrible.

She is now back into her nest box.

I am fearful and do not know which direction to take....... at first I thought it was her female problem but when she gets that
she has never squatted over and over...... plus.........

her VULVA IS NOT SWOLLEN........... I double triple checked as that is a sure "sign" that she is doing the same old thing.

HELP !

These are classic signs of a UTI.
What antibiotics do you have?

Clavamox 875mg exp 12 / 2015

SMZ-TMP 960MG exp 5/ 2015

augmenton -875 mg exp Unknown

Metrondidazole - 250mg 8 / 2015

Luna Weight : 596 grms

IF there is something other than listed here that would be better or "fresher" needed
we can check at the Pharmacy here.

When I just took her out to weigh her, she began to eat just a little afterwards. Just a note.

When I checked her cage first thing this morning I did see something on her platform.... looked like a partially dried
"puddle" it was light brownish/yellowish and tacky and maybe just a little grainy like...... hmmm I was uncertain if it
was pee or throw up...... still uncertain....... it did NOT smell.

Cipro or Baytril would be a good choice.
You need to get some new antibiotics soon.
We will go with the SMZ-TMP unless someone else thinks
differently.
Remember SMZ is a slower acting antibiotic so you most
likely won't see a difference right away if this is a UTI.
Remember always probiotics 2 hours prior or after dosing antibiotics.
I will send you a pm in a minute with dosing.

Edit: Dosing sent.

VP 120 is the imprint on SMX-TMP 960. I would go ahead and dose it per the instructions given by Nancy.

I would do minimum of 7-10 days.
Sometimes these UTI's can be difficult to clear up.

Luna is already more active and wants to come out...

IF I let her go into a playroom is the UTI "catching" if she pees or rubs herself can
the other get the UTI ? ? ? ?

I am supposing this Thread could now be moved from Life Threatening.

No, she will be fine.

Rosie, make sure she gets lots of water during the treatment. SMZ is kind of hard on the kidneys and you want to flush her out with a UTI anyway...

Thanks CritterMom

Luna has never been willing to 'take' water from me....she does have a water bottle in her cage... but I may be able to give her
cranberry juice........ that she will take usually. Or cranberry mixed with Culantro Coyote tincture
that I make. Good for inflammation and other stuff.

Cranberry is actually an excellent choice for UTI's.
