Our lab started throwing up this morning, and now our Schnauzer is sick too. They are also lethargic and cranky. Daniel isn't throwing up but he isn't eating his food. I'm off to do more research but does anyone have any idea what could be causing this? They all seemed fine last night. I'm esp. worried about our lab because she has a really strong stomach and almost nothing makes her sick.
Thanks.

Did they get into any poisions or anything toxic, cleaners...antifreeze?
Pesticides?

Nothing out of the ordinary. I can't find anything they may have gotten into. They haven't been out of their usual environment either. The lab gets Hill's Science Diet Adult Large Breed Light and the Schnauzers gets Hill's Science Diet W/D (Rx food). The pup gets Hill's Science Diet Large Breed Puppy and the other two dogs in our house get Hill's Science Diet Adult Light.

Thanks, Gammas Baby. I'm going to go search the house again. The weird thing is that Daniel and Rolly (schnauzer) were in their kennels all day, bacause we were gone seeing both sets of grandparents today. :dono

So sorry to hear of your sick pets. Any chance it could be parvo, or are they current on their shots? Our ESS got parvo before he completed his puppy shots--he was only partially protected. If there is any chance, please get them to the vet ASAP. Good luck.

I'm so so sorry to hear about your doggies. I hope they get better soon. Not to make you worry unnecessarily, but does anyone know if there are anymore pet food scares going on?

The lab hasn't moved from her spot on the floor for five hours. Her respirations are 18 a minute and her capillary refill time is 3 seconds. Couldn't get a good pulse and she just wanted to be left alone.
Rolly is feeling crumby still but Daniel seems to have gotten over it. The other two dogs are still fine.

The vet opens at 730 so you bet we'll be there right away.
Thanks for the support. I hope it wasn't the dog food - we did just open a new bag for Sara (lab) a day or two ago...
Hmm...Let me type this out to avoid confusion.
Sara = the lab, 5 yrs old
Rolly=the schnauzer, 13 yrs old
Kirby = poodle, 3 yrs old
Radar = yorkie/chihuahua mix, 2 yrs old
Daniel = rottie/sheperd mx, 5 months old
Yes, we are crazy. No, you cannot have one.

my guess is toxins of some sort. How about heat stroke? Dehydration? Heat stroke can make you nautious can't it? Are their kennels in the sun? Was it a hot day? Were they drooling or foaming at the mouth? Sometimes animals do that when they eat something that tastes bad. I wish you the best at the vets. Be sure to let us know what happened.

That is just terrible, I hope the vet has an answer quickly and all doggies are OK. I will be thinking of you and your crew, please let us know how it turns out. Poor babies, you just feel so helpless :grouphug
TexanSquirrel have you been to the vet this morning? Are your dogs feeling better?
It sounds viral to me, but not Parvo. With Parvo you would see lots of bloody diarrhea.
I hope you get good news at the vet!!

I hope your doggies are better!!
Two of my three got a bug a couple years ago that made them vomit and poop diarrhea uncontrollably. I had no more than walked in the door from vetting the first sick dog to find the second one doing the same thing! UGH! And both are strong-stomached dogs that would NEVER poop in the house if they could help it.
Found out it was a bacterial thing that most dogs are exposed to as pups, they get the runs for a day or two and it's over...but when they get it as older dogs and juveniles, it's bad on them and causes the illness. My dogs had to have antibiotics for two weeks, and pepto, but they were fine.
I hope you were able to find the cause and a simple solution!!! :grouphug

Rolly has been asleep all day, nothing real unusal there. Sara ate a bit of her breakfast and played with the pup for a few minutes so she is feeling a bit better. She has been resting the rest of the day. Since she is improving the vet said we could probably wait to bring them in. It's weird having a quite house because she's not up to barking at everything.
The only thing I can think of is that it's been raining a lot here and were we used to have a pool we have a big sand pit. It rained so much that there is standing water in the pit and it grew some green stuff. Sara and Rolly must have gotten a drink from it while they were outside and Daniel probably played it in. Radar and Kirby hate to get their feet wet so they would have stayed far away from any puddles.
Sorry I took so long to get back to you guys. Thank you all for your kind words and prayers. Hopefully they will continue to get better and will have learned their lesson about drinking green water (yeah right - in addition to bunny-proofing my bed now I'll be out there trying to drain the water or something. It never ends. :shakehead )

Our vet is so great. He even gives us a frequent-flyer discount. :D The techs are also A+ as well. They know all of us, and I mean ALL, and they are so good to us. That's why we named the pup Daniel, after our vet.
The kennels are inside and it hasn't been that hot lately. I hate kenneling them but they have the three youngest are nothing but trouble when left to their own devices! And Rolly is getting pretty senile so we lock him up to keep him out of trouble, even though he would never cause trouble on purpose.
:wott Glad they are feeling better!

if you have 3 dogs and 3 dogs got sick at same time ,its poison they got into or something to the like. god forbid someone gave them an antifreeze biscuit. years ago in our small neighborhood a 12 year old killed like 10 dogs folks had , i paid my nephew to beat his ass, i know might be wrong but the kid was a total pyscho who abused all animals. where is that boy now ??? in prison for murder and child molestation.

I've heard of several dogs getting sick from eating mulch. My mother-in-law lost a Weimaraner due to a fungus in a new mulch. He didn't eat it either, just inhaled it.
ravenlaws32 I've always heard one of the first signs of a psycho is animal abuse. We rescued our min-pin from one of those young psycho's 7 years ago. Guess where that boy is now.... yep. Jail!

More improvement on Sara's part. She's a tough girl. Such a good dog. It's still raining so we'll have to come up with a plan to keep the pack out of trouble...:shakehead

yep , alot of sickos out there but thank god for the good folks in the world.I never judge someone from not knowing them but this kid i knew it sure as im sitting here was nothing but a devil and he was just a bad bad seed , everyone knew what he would be when he grew up - a felon another note to the boy that is weird is his older brother is a state trooper and still lives in the area and would help anyone or anything , it is just weird how the brain chemistry works in some folks . sad part is the parents often blame themselves for their childs actions and it is not their fault . the parents never got over all the death threats ,letters , scratching up thier cars ,etc .alot of folks who lost loved pets turned into a mob mentality and they moved away , from i remember the parents were good parents with just a bad seed. very very tragic on all sides.IM thankful to god everyday me and my family and my daughter are good caring loving people who love animals , i just thank god .
