Well, we heard scratching in our walls, so we got a live trap, We cought an adult, but it turns out we separated the mother and baby's :sadness . Its cold and wintery so we want to keep the baby's untill spring, but we dont have a cage, and there expensive! The baby's are in the live trap with a blanket or 2 draped over keeping light out. We dont want to spend to much money, so whats an idea for a small cage (only for a couple weeks) And toys?! Please help! We feel so bad! :Love_Icon:Love_Icon:Love_Icon:Love_Icon:Love_Icon

I have built all my 6 cages with plywood , screws, hinges, wire (hardware cloth) and a H.D. staple gun for the wire.
If its winter -where you are, release might be a bad choice. ??

Please don't release the babies where you took mom. It's unlikely that she would find them and they will certainly die out there by themselves. Could you give us an idea where you are? Maybe we have someone in your area that could take them and rehab them. They need to be released as part of a colony.
Could you post a pic of the babies? Are the eyes open? Please put some fleece or tshirts in the live trap with them so that they can burrow under them. Keep them warm. A heating pad on low under the trap would help. If we see the size we can give you an idea about feeding them. If the eyes are open I would give them a small piece of apple. They need hydration. Do you have a syringe? Warm some water and add a little honey and see if they will take it. If they are very young, they need formula. The formula is powdered Esbilac puppy formula with probiotics and probiotics.
We will try to find a rehabber if you would like.
For a cage you can use a Sterilite bin with holes drilled for air. Place half of it on a hearing pad on LOW.

WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED? I'D BE WILLING TO PICK THEM UP, OR TRAVEL TO MEET YOU IF YOU'RE WITHIN A CERTAIN DISTANCE

I'm heading to bed, but if they're in the Midwest I might be able to pick them up.

I keep checking here, and hope you come back on. I'm really motivated to come and get the babies. I sure do hope you'll come back on the board soon!
