Awake in the daytime??

I have a southern flying squirrel who is currently awake and playing/running around like crazy at 10:23am. Is that normal? It seems he's been awake during the day more lately.

It is very common with juveniles.

I have an older flyer (female) that I have found out and about during the day more often recently. She is also quite aggressive and mean recently.. I am thinking because it is mating season.

Yes! My male is so cranky lately! I'm glad it's not me making him mad, but something with the season. He's a year old and has been awake at the most random times.
