View Full Version : Could Angel have a UTI?

I noticed today that Angel has some blood on his penis!:eek I'm not sure what to make of it but it does concern me as I have never seen blood there before. He doesn't act like he's in pain though. The only behavior difference I can tell on him right now is that he may be just a little bit more clingy than usual. Could this be a UTI? I did think that maybe if he had a UTI he would show more symptoms of discomfort.:thinking I suppose it's possible that he injured it somehow.:dono I just want to make sure if it is a UTI, that I take care of it before it gets any worse. Should I just keep an eye on him to see if it gets any worse? Any input is appreciated.
I hope Angel will forgive me for posting a pic of him like this.:tilt:grin

I am not sure about a UTI but I have seen this before on my Angel III when he would "fix" himself - he would work a little bit too fast or too hard and his teeth would end up scratching/scraping it and it would slightly bleed (my Angel III's looked exactly like what you have pictured for your Angel).

Just thinking out loud, but I wonder if Angel is "over grooming" that area.
Have you noticed any problem with him peeing?
I think as long as you have Angel's face hidden, he'll be fine with you
posting this. :grin2

Hmm... I didn't even think of that, but I suppose that is a possibility. I haven't noticed him doing that lately, but that's not to say he's not when I'm not there. Thanks for the input - if that is the case, I suppose it should heal up soon enough.:)

Thanks Nancy.:) That was my first thought too although Angel has never been much of a groomer.:grin I haven't actually observed him urinating recently, but I will defiantly be watching to make sure he isn't having difficulty. Oh yes, I made sure not to put his face in the pic.:grin3

I have seen a similar thing with Sammy. I did think it was due to a bit of overenthusiastic "grooming" (if that's what we're calling it these days :grin3) on his part.

Well he didn't seem too bothered by it, so that's probably what it is.:grin2
When I saw blood and it scared me a little.. he was probably watching me fret, trying to get a picture of it and wondering what the big deal is!:rolf

I would check to see that he is urinating. UTI's can be fatal if they are not caught in time.

Oh goodness JLM, I didn't know that - I will make sure he is. Are there any other symptoms I need to be looking for if it is a UTI? His penis looks fine today, no more blood so I'm hoping it was just him being a bit too rough with himself.:tilt

Oh I can't stand it, I'm so jealous you get to give that precious boy belly kisses!!! Some of my favorite times ever were when Munchkin let me sit with her and pet her. Soooo soft. :Love_Icon:Love_Icon:serene I hope Angel is fine, and it's nothing wrong :grouphug:grouphug

Lethargy, fever, cloudy, colored, or stinky urine. No or little urine.

Lennysmom, does Angel have difficulty during urination, or frequent attempts at urination?

Ok, thank you for the information. He's not showing any of these symptoms right now, but I will be sure to keep an eye on him.

Not that I can tell.. I get him out twice a day and many times he doesn't pee when I have him out, so that makes it more difficult to say for sure. But he does like to pee on the wall beside his cage so once I clean it off again, should be pretty easy to tell how much he is peeing now and whether or not it has a stronger odor then usual.
