Stevie is eating and eliminating but not moving. Lethargic and seems to be in pain. This came on suddenly last night. I called several vets this morning. Every vet referred me to one in town that was clear that they will force me to surrender then euthenized him. I live in California. This if very hard for me to see him suffer and harder to surrender to be euthanized if I think he would have a chance with simple vet care.
Anyone else in California have any ideas. I'm just so worried.

Where in California are you located, just the city.
Do you have a weight on him? We can dose infant ibuprophen if you think he's in pain.
What is his diet like, are you giving treatment for MBD?

Reach out to our member Kihoalu through a pm.
I think he has a vet that is some distance away from
him. I believe he's in Freemont.
Another member posted this a while back, not sure if this is close or not.
Oh, I'm so sorry I didn't even see this earlier!! Thank you Nancy! :grouphug
First place I thought of is Lindsay Wildlife in Walnut Creek, 1931 1st Ave, Walnut Creek, CA 94597

Hang on, there's another place, too, but Lindsay has a top notch wildlife rehab hospital. Be right back.

MBD?
Metabolic bone disease, it is caused by an inadequate diet.
What do you feed your squirrel daily?

Yes. He still likes formula but is also eating fruits, veggies, organic unsalted raw sunflower seeds, rodent blocks.

And he has a small animal mineral block he chews on often.

I am very concerned about the effect of the sunflower seeds. Stop feeding them entirely (this is a nutritional thing having to do with the balance of calcium and phosphorus in the food). Go to the drug store and get a bottle of Fruit flavored Tums - the antacid. Turn the bottle around and look on the BACK label to see what the serving size is and how much elemental calcium is in them, For example I have a bottle of Tums "Ultra 1000" and each of those 1000mg tablets has 400mg of elemental calcium in them. I would start giving about 400mg elemental calcium PER DAY. Break those doses up into as many as you can give a day - at least 3 and more if you can. Many SMALL amounts is better than one big dose. Your squirrel may be willing to eat pieces of the tablet - tey taste pretty good. If not, grind and add a little water so you can give it to him by syringe. If MBD is the problem, you should start to see small improvements after a few days of this. If you do, you will be giving this treatment, with ever decreasing amounts of calcium, for some time - weeks and likely months.
This is an easy thing to try that will not hurt your squirrel even if it is NOT the problem, but adding sunflower seeds, with their high phosphorus levels, does have the ability to counteract all the good calcium in the formula and blocks...

What's the name of the formula he's on?
How much does he take daily?
Also, give fruits in limited quantity, they are considered "treats".
What rodent block are you feeding, and is he actually eating it, or just shredding?
Here's the chart to the healthy diet.

If someone knows a way to get him to a vet, where they won't force me to surrender then euthanize him. I think he has something caught in his nasal passage. No vets will see him here. They all want me to surrender him.

Did you have any luck with the suggestions I posted in post #5?
