I need to get some crickets for my bearded dragon. I sometimes purchase dried dead ones in a jar. I also purchase live ones for him. Wondering which i should offer to my squirrel? Lol dont want any escaping and keeping me up at night so also wondering how good squirrels are at catching live ones

Not sure that squirrels would catch or eat live crickets. I know they love the cicadas but those are big and much much slower.
BTW: I work at a nature center and one of my favorite animals there is Spike, our bearded dragon. He loves it when I pour a dozen or so live crickets into his tank and he has a field day leaping all over and slurping them up :rotfl They are the best lizards, are't they? :grin2

Yes they are. I rescued mine about 3 years ago.. The family that had him didnt realize how senstive they are . they only fed him crickets. He was about a year old when i got him. He had clear signs of mbd. His one wrist. Was bent inward and he walked like that. He was lethargic for awhile he also had no uvb light. It took me awhile but he healed up pretty good and his wrist straightened out ill post s couple pics later . my guy is named khal drogo:) drogo for short

Oh no -- thank God you rescued him! Spike gets crickets, superworms, mealworms, clover and grass from outside (he LOVES it), and "fruits & veggies" every other day -- usually some lettuces with broccoli and a grape or blueberry chopped up. He is a voracious eater.

What a handsome fellow -- and what a difference the proper diet makes, just like with squirrels. Great job!

Aww! I've got a beardie too! His name is Spike also. I feed mine superworms. My squirrrel Sammy has played around with them some but so far hasn't eaten any.
