Hi Teddy's Mom again with more questions :w00t Teddy is now about 16 weeks old I'm not sure how to weigh him anymore because he doesn't stay still long enough. He usually gets around 3 high protein HHB daily along with his 3 salads. I give him some fruit at night too. I read on the squirrel care portion of Henry's healthy pet website to let the babies wean themselves. We're down to 3 feedings daily at 30CCs each but Teddy won't eat his big boy food until he has had his milk. He's on 50/50 Esbilac/FVF he seems very happy and healthy. He's beautiful in my opinion I guess I'm wondering do I just keep doing what I'm doing or should I change something? My other question is about this funny squeaking noise he makes when we play sometimes. I'll try to post the video, he was distracted by the light on my phone and is usually more playful. What does squeaking mean? One last question, is the lunging with almost a hissing noise to be expected at his age? He doesn't do it with my son or me just my husband and my husband is not nearly as amused as I am. Thanks in advance for the help. I guess I'm not bright enough to figure out how to upload this dang video.

WOW if he's still taking formula I'd be thrilled. That's a great amount too.:w00t
Formula is all inclusive with the nutrition portion of a squirrels diet.
I also feel it's the best insurance against MBD.
If he still takes it, I would give him as much as he wants.
Make sure that you give him safe things to chew on to keep the
teeth trimmed down.
Is he offered any kind of squirrel block? HHB's?
I saw the video, and he's adorable!
I think what you're hearing in that video is that you've hit
a ticklish spot on him. I know that my squirrel will sometimes do that
when I "grab/touch" the tummy.
Not sure about the lunging, but I wouldn't be surprised if he soon
picks out "his favorite" people to be around. It's rare that they like everyone,
the older they get. :(

Yes, he gets 3-4 of the high protein HHB daily and they're his favorite second only to avocado. I was kinda worried he was getting to the favorite people phase. I'll start giving him all the milk he wants, I had started cutting him off at 30CCs per feeding 90CCs daily. He has always been a VERY healthy eater. He was somewhere around 180g when he opened his eyes. That's so funny they have their ticklish spots. Teddy makes a game of chasing us and then we let him catch us and he'll run up to our faces and touch noses. Last night Teddy smelled cookie on my breath so he helped himself to opening up my mouth and sticking his head in my mouth. He has never had a cookie but I guess it just smelled like something good. :laugh2 thanks for the help, this board is great!

Oh and yes he has branches in his cage that he loves to destroy. We did have to scoot his cage away from the wall just a smidge because he thought the wall would make a fun chew toy too lol. He's my wonderful little naughty. Having a bit of naughty in our home is a good thing :grin2

Teddy is just gorgeous. He's the epitome of a healthy, happy squirrel.:klunk
Does he have white fur on the bridge of his nose?
Yes a little naughty in the home is just what we all need! :w00t

Thank you, no white fur on his nose, it's the sun from the window reflecting off his fur. His fur is that pretty, silky and shiny. He almost feels like he has rabbit fur. I'm not expecting my hands to look any particular way but are there any suggestions to lessen the scratches? My Momma commented on how awful my hands look. I said they're just love marks, he has never tried to hurt me. He stops playing and licks my hand if I say owie. It's pretty adorable.

The only thing I know of to protect the hands is gloves.
Some have used those "cheapie" one size fits all
stretchy gloves, while others use something more "bite" proof.
I've used the "cheapie" ones and they seem to work well to help
prevent scratches.
My Jesse (Dwarf Foxer) is a few weeks older and about the size of Teddies head lol... Wow he's big. ! Right now she's being picky and will only eat Maybe 20mls of her FV and a tiny piece of fruit. :shakehead
Teddy is an absolutely amazing specimen! !

Thank you both, does Jesse like the HHB high protein? It's the only food Teddy takes, runs off with and chatters at me about. Jesse sounds adorable she's very lucky to have you. My sister says Teddy is the prettiest squirrel she has ever seen. She's a reformed squirrel killer :w00t she says Teddy is so special that she can't look at squirrels the same as before. Teddy fixed her :serene
She'll take nibbles of the HHB's but thats it. Shes got the high protein and the healthy blocks. She's not interested in them at all. Or any kind of nuts which I thought kinda bizarre lol

I went out of town the Friday after Thanksgiving and came back that Sunday. I had family stay here with the babies and everyone except Teddy did great. Teddy refused to take milk from everyone except my sister and then he only took 6CCs on Saturday. Since I've been home Teddy is taking even more milk than before! I'm now making 45-54CCs 2-3 times a day for him. He's still eating his HHB and salads very well but again only after his milk. He's about 18 weeks old now. Is there a point where I should cut back? I enjoy the time with him and it's not a problem time wise for me. Is it normal for squirrels to be clingy for lack of a better description after being gone a couple of days? He gets loads of out time but is having fits when it's time to be put up. My mind goes to dogs with separation anxiety. Did I leave him too soon?

I forgot to ask how's Jesse doing? Still being picky? And one more question, Teddy helped himself to some of my almond milk when I went into the kitchen just now. Is that going to hurt him? I'll be more careful, he's a sneaky naughty. Last night my son am I were chasing him around the house because he helped himself to my purse. I heard my purse clinking noise (from the metal on the straps) my first thought was not my Coach Teddy!!!! I get to the other side of the counter to see his booty and tail sticking straight out of my purse. I go to get him when he leaps out of my purse with one of my white chocolate Reese's peanut butter cups in his mouth! I'll have y'all know, what you probably already know, squirrels that don't want to be caught are REALLY hard to catch. I had my son grab a rodent block because Teddy usually drops everything for his HHB. Not last night though that greedy bugger was trying to fit both in his mouth. We ended up catching Teddy before he figured out how to unwrap my candy. He keeps me on my toes, I need to Teddy proof lol. I didn't think he would/could get into my purse. :rotfl
