Thank you so so much. I followed your instructions bet I could with what I have to work with

I hope I'm in time... I really have no idea what else I can do. Wife has hydrated him with Pedialite, and fed him some formula over the last couple days

But I came home from a medical run to get him his cipro and i found him on his side barely willing to move. I don't such a precision syringe. So I had to wing it a little. Also gave hime a little more pedialite to perk him back up

How soon could I potentially see improvement?

Cipro is pretty fast acting, hopefully tomorrow by this time you should see something.
What are you feeding this little one?
We recommend Powdered Puppy Esbilac, make sure it's the Esbilac and NOT PetLac
How much is he getting at each feeding.
Has he aspirated?
Are you using a nipple?
Remember to give probiotics 2 hours prior or after dosing antibiotics.

Cipro works fast, but you have a nervous night ahead of you. I saw improvement after getting info from Nancy in about 24 hours.

Is he on a towel layered heating pad away from drafts?

Praying for the best outcome for you.

May I ask what city you are in?
We have members from all over and a few from your state
that may be able to help you out if you ever need
them. :w00t

Yes, of course.

I'm in Elizabethtown. I would take immediate help if such a thing was available. I'm soon worried.

He is still lethargic, but goy excited to eat. The he crashed again

And he's not pooping, appears to be slightly swollen around anus

Warmth and hydration......very important. Nancy had asked what formula you were using? Powdered Esbilac Puppy?

Yes

I have a space heater near him. I don't have a pad? How warm is warm enough/too warm?

And yes, that is the formula we are using

I am sorry! I skipped over your post!

I am feeding Esbilac, no nippple. My wife has been feesing him from a medicine syringe.

He just took approx 4 ml.

What kind of prebiotic could I give him?

My wife nor myself have seen him aspirated for sure. I've listened the best I could to his breathing, and I think I can pick out some slight clicking in his chest. But not even positive about that

This is what I use.
It doesn't have to be the esact same kind, just
get the capsules and pull them apart.
It has a slightly sweet taste so it won't be hard dosing.
Put it in some formula or a little bit of water and he should
take it willingly. About this amount is fine O.

Here is a link to the best nipple. http://www.henryspets.com/miracle-nipple/
Here is a great syringe
http://www.henryspets.com/slip-tip-o-ring-syringes/

This site also will give you good feeding advice.

4 mls is good, you should offer formula about every 3-4 hours.

Don't put him against the heater, but close is good. Avoid drafts/cool Windows. Keep him covered, fleece is truly a great material for beds.

You got great advice here , Mennome. However, if I may add... Babies need not only ambient warmth, they need contact warmth because ambient warmth cannot regulate the body's temp adequately - if it's 105F outside we will sweat a lot but our own body temp does not rise to 105 because of it, see what I mean?

His body temp should run around 100-101F, so it's warmer than our own. Can you make him a rice buddy maybe? Use uncooked beans or rice stuffed inside an old sock and warm that up in the microwave. Make sure to squish it so you get no hot spot, and wrap it up in a fleece or t-shirt, then place that beside him. You could also use a hot water bottle, also wrapped in a t-shirt or fleece - you don't want to risk burning him.

Either one, you will need to reheat about every two hours because you'll want to keep the baby's body temp constant and avoid fluctuations. For the syringe, in a pinch you may be able to ask a pharmacist for a one ml syringe, like the diabetics use, until you get other ones. Tell them you don't want a needle, just the syringe to feed a hamster - not all people like squirrels - and they should give you one without fussing.

Okay, thank you all so much

He's gotten his antibiotics, got another round of formula with some probiotics, and I went and bummed and electric heating pad to put under his tote to supplement the space heater for the night.

I guess now I just try to get some some and hope he pulls through. Thank you all again

Would some calcium be good for him right now ?
This is all the best advice you can get ! I also seen improvements within 24 hours doing exactly what was said here.
And now I have a fat little porker in just over 2 weeks :)
I had a few sleepless nights thats for sure lol
