I have a new one coming in... Someone told someone...that I care for squirrels. :grin2
The gentleman states he has had the squirrel for 4 days, feeding it sunflowers and chess nuts. Now, squirrel doesn't seen healthy and want me to take it.
Immediate steps for me: warmth, fluids
Should I dose with calcium?
Addendum: Little one here. EXTREMELY dehydrated. Starting Lactated ringers and warm. Weight: 70gr Aprox: 4-5 weeks

Taking warm fluids well. Plan is to continue these for quite a while with warmth. Already improving.

No calcium.
Yes, warm the baby and then give hydration fluid. You can do the pinch test to check for dehydration. Pinch the skin on the shoulders. If the skin 'tents' the baby is dehydrated. I would hydrate for several hours and then start giving diluted formula. You can try 3:1 but I have found that they usually don't like diluted formula. If he won't take it, try full strength formula. You can continue to hydrate between feeding. This baby needs nutrition as well as fluids.
I would also listen to the chest for clicking. Finders often use an eye dropper and will invariable aspirate them.

Here are 2 excellent threads --you need to read---NOW.
One is the rehydrating solution preferred...and the second ( equally important) is how to give that fluid--without aspirating the baby.--which can result in pneumonia.

Doing okay. Tried to climb on my hand. Low energy, but taking fluids very well. Praying for a good night. She went to sleep wrapped in a fleece slipper. :Love_Icon

You'd be surprised what those slipper have raised over the years! And the one eye....well, it is getting better with warm chamomile compresses today. Opened most of the day now. She is improving....getting some strength. Still skin and bones..... But I've only had her now 2 days.
