Cat Caught Baby

So I have a new baby....I'd guess she's approx 4 weeks old...she weighs 71 g. She has a small wound on top of her head....she was taken from a cat :sadness they said she had what appeared to be salvia on her back ...I have hydrated her twice.....she took to the miracle nipple easily :great she doesn't appear to be very dehydrated...the finders found her around 3:30 and we got her around 7:30... They kept her on heat and didn't try to feed her:great probably why she's in good shape.

I'm wondering what ABs I should give her for the bite or scratch on her head...cipro, I think I have some amoxicillin:thinking I need to check. Here's a few pics of her:Love_Icon

It's really a crazy story as to how she got here....my husband was speaking to one of the hvac repairmen he uses at work...some how the guy got on the subject of how his 4 outdoor cats are always catching squirrels:tap...this was 6-7 weeks ago....Harold gave him his card and said if they ever have and injured one we'd help. Well today their daughter chased the cats away from the baby .....she told my husband that her dad said they should have let them eat it :shakehead the dad said "we can't save them all" the mother said "yes, but maybe we can save this one" the little girl fell in love with her...she cried when Harold took her away...they had called all the wildlife organizations and no one had returned their calls...and then the dad remembered Harold :dono the rest is history :grin3

Meds on board:great thanks to Auntie Nancy....not as nasty as it could've been :Love_Icon I fed her diluted formula... she was not as eager...but she may have felt full from the hydration :dono

The little girl had named her Fluffy and she was very proud that she ran the cats off...I have to give dad credit...he did keep the card and was willing to call :great I guess he wouldn't have had a happy evening otherwise :facepalm

Little Fluffy Fluffette :grin3 ate pretty good this morning...but ate really good for my daughter today 3 1/2 mL....when I got home from work I was heading out to feed all my wild friends outside...when I hear this ear splitting scream...lil Fluffy was running around...quickly on top of her blankies....so I went ahead and fed her first....she took 5 mLs :eek I think she's feeling squirrelie :bliss :bowdown

I guess she is the best med for a mending heart....but now Harold has to build another release cage :eek I'm not kicking my girls out of their respective cages :tap :laugh2

The little puncture on her head is all but gone....if I hadn't pulled the dried blood from her fur...I wouldn't know it was ever there...must have been superficial....she has a nick or two on her belly...but everything is healing right up:great ABs are doing their job :bowdown Harold has already agreed to a new release cage :w00t all's good :Love_Icon

So we weighed Fluffy last night and she's 126 grams.....and when she went to bed late Saturday night she had opened one eye....Sunday morning two eyes peeking out at us :grin3 she's doing really, really well....I'm going to stop the abs ....she's had 7 days on them...she did end up with 2 more scabs on her back :sadness please let me know if that's not enough time on the abs :great she's very fiesty....she growls and does a slight lunge :Love_Icon when she hears a noise....I think she's going to be a strong girl :w00t

Fluffy...now officially called Fluffy Biscuit :grin3 has grown all up...the bot fly was yanked out by hubby :yuck it was just hanging out close to falling out...and he just couldn't take it any more and pulled it out:great She's still drinking formula 4 times a day....she eats two Henrys a day....last time I weighed her she was 245 g...but I'm sure she's heavier now...I'll have to check. She's a lovey girl and will ride around in my robe...she eats and then goes into a food coma :klunk she will sleep in my robe while I'm with the flyers....when I hurt myself and had to sleep in the chair...she slept with me for a few hours before I'd put her up...we've gotten the third extension to put on top of her ferret nation cage:great so looks like we're ready for winter....just got to start on a new release cage :eek here's a few pics of her....one of the bot...a couple of her eating her first block...and couple of her in a food coma..in my robe :Love_Icon oh and a video of her eating her first block :serene

Fluffy Biscuit continues to do well....she loves her blocks....and drinks formula 3 times daily....her intake varies from 15 mL to 30 mLs :dono just depends on her mood :crazy1 she's the easiest baby I've fed....she's still using her original miracle nipple...I bought two more with my first order of formula (I still had formula in the freezer from Ari) I just knew she would start chewing them as she got older :grin3 nope, she's such a sweet baby girl :Love_Icon here's two pics (in poor lighting) of her eating her block with me....and a video I took today....Baby got out of bed this morning and played...then decided to nap in my wardrobe :tap but, it did allow me to give Biscuit some daylight hours in the squirrel room:great just a note...yesterday, my steps were frozen over with freezing rain...and the leaves in the woods were equally treacherous:eek today high 60's :facepalm

Lol, I'm not kidding, the rats are literally making new openings as fast as I've gone around the perimeter plugging holes!! :rofl4 It's a much bigger house repair project we need to do...:hidechair

Darn it!! I forgot to video the holes the rats tunneled in the front yard, before I sealed them with that spray foam. Those boogers made some crazy holes that tunneled in!! I saw them run across the front yard and dive in!! Very smart, and very determined to stay here...where there's an endless supply of treats...:shakehead

It's so good to be home....and to have so many happy to see you back:serene Fluffy Biscuit is still very sweet....and at about 19 weeks....still taking formula twice a day:great I was talking about how big and healthy she is at the Gathering....so I decided to weigh her tonight...before her formula....she weighed in at a whopping 590 grams :dono I'm not sure....but that seems pretty big for that age :grin3 here's a few pics of her...sitting on my shoulder, playing on the flyer cage...and after some hand play...pancaking out for a rest :Love_Icon
