Yesterday morning Jill wouldn't come out of her cube. After much bribing, she finally slid out and started eating. Her mouth was terribly bloody. I immediately stopped feeding her and cleaned/inspected her mouth. 6+ qtips of fresh, bright red blood from inside her mouth, but no injury. She ate and acted fine. I thought maybe she scratched herself somewhere.
Fast forward to her last feeding and there was blood on 2 syringes. Not too much, but blood is blood.
She's 7ish weeks old. Been with me for a week. Dropped off at vet, so unknown history. Gets along with "siblings," eats fine, acts fine.
Any suggestions?
Edit. Teeth are good, bottoms are a nice length. No holes or injuries to roof of mouth
Coming from sinuses from back of throat? Tongue cut? Bleeding gums? Back teeth?
Just throwing stuff out there.

The blood was around the front of thr mouth, between the gums and the lips. I didn't realize they bleed when their back teeth come in. But geesh, this was a lot of blood...
Forgive any typos. Buster says hi through them.

I do NOT know that the back teeth might bleed, but it was just a possibility. She otherwise looks good? :dono

She looks fine otherwise. Very healthy appetite too! She wrestles her siblings sometimes.
Just making sure it wasn't something terrible that I wasn't seeing or didn't know about. If it happens for a bit longer, I may have to bring her to the vet :shakehead

Blood again today. Still don't see ANYTHING in her mouth. If it's there tomorrow, I'm scheduling an appt with the vet..as much as I don't want to do that

Is this bright red blood?

Are you seeing the blood during or after feeding from a syringe? --I ask as some of the young ones will cut their mouth area with their nails as they move their paws back & forth during feeding time.

Very bright red, fresh blood.
The first instance was prior to feeding and the second two times were during feeding. I've got a picture of the long miracle nipple covered in blood if it'll help anyone.
She doesn't move her paws too much, but keeps them in place more than he others. Hope I'm making sense.

Watch close during next feeding to make sure the nails are not catching the sides of the mouth or that the tongue isn't being bitten ...... this use to happen to my babies under 6 weeks of age.

None from the nose. I'll check their nails in half an hour at their next feeding. They're 7-8 weeks now :thinking

This happened to Teddy last week. He's 9.5 weeks now but I'm pretty sure my goober bit his tongue. I was terrified despite him seeming fine. I hope all is well with your baby.

Jill stopped, but Kovu started :thinking
I'm starting to wonder if it's the cage? I've never had this issue before, but I just started using this cage.
Here's a picture of Kovu, mind you a bad picture. The blood comes from the front of their mouths and quickly stops and goes away. I put the syringe either inside the cage and feed them or stick just the nipple inside. (I don't make them fight for the nipple, like you see here - I was just trying to move it to get a picture of the blood and keep him partially still) I didn't notice him pawing excessively to cause the bleeding. Thoughts?
