Hi, I currently have an approx. 4 week old Grey squirrel that Ihave had for a week now. I have always used Esbilac (which I am currently using) and just heard about the Fox Valley formula that everyone is recommending. I would like to purchase some but have no idea which version to get ando would also like some advise on how to best transition my baby from Esbilac to FV and what ratio of the new formula to use ☺

You can get FV 20/50 here. Don't don't don't buy the 32/40 as it will kill the babies.

Slowly mix some FV in the with Esbilac (75/25 ratio) and feed for a few feedings then go with 50/50 and stick with it (as long as the baby is doing well).
Welcome back to TSB by the way!! :grin2 Would love to see pics of your new baby!

Thank you so much! Also, will I need to switch to a different version of the formula when she gets older? I read somewhere that they feed different versions at different ages? This is little miss Pocket :grin2

No, the 50/50 mix of Esbilac and Fox Valley 20/50 is what many of us use up until they wean themselves.

Is there a reason you are wanting to change? --the Esbilac with Probiotics is highly recommended as well..... if your baby is thriving on the Esbilac you really don't need to take him off it.

She is doing well, my only concern is that she isn't gaining weight properly. She eats very well and has great energy level but, even being fed properly, is not even starting to fill out. I wondered if by adding the FV to her diet it might change that and fill her out.

I live in Florida and the greys I rehab tend to be a little on the skinny side at first, then they start to fill out more once the hhb and regular food is added in with the formula.
If you want, try adding some vanilla yogurt in with the formula, this is best done after the babies have turned 4 weeks old.
If you have already ordered the FV you can try mixing the two formula 50/50 ...... many members have great success with this combination.

I love FV's product Ultra Boost, a high-fat supplement to formula. Although I start babies on Esbilac if they are eyes closed, I will add the Ultra Boost to the Esbilac and keep them on that if they need to gain weight faster than they are doing naturally. It also tends to stabilize the stool -- my little Attila had loose poops until I added the Ultra Boost, and now he is finally gaining weight. After their eyes open I transition my babies to FV 20/50, which has a higher fat content than the 32/40, so at that point I discontinue the Ultra Boost. Hope this helps.

She just seems to be thinner than any of my other squirrels have been. However, she is the only Female I've ever raised. could it just be males have larger bone structure? Thank you all for your advice! I ordered the VF Yesterday so maybe that will help with her weight gain. I just want what's best for her and want to do what I can do to make her the healthiest! :serene

I've never noticed a difference in the males or females concerning their weight...... I think you have a little one that just needs a little extra help...... TLC.
