Ive been slowly trying to get Lilo to drink from a shallow dish. It isnt going very well. She keeps putting her nose into it . even just a thin layer of liquid. I did try a water bottle but it comes out too quick so i gave up on that. Hoping for some tips
Is it possible for her to aspirate when lapping up a thin layer of liquid

If she breathes it in, it's possible. Add some pebbles or marbles to the bottom so her nose has somewhere to rest as she's drinking. She'll figure it out!
What type of water bottle do you have?
Mine were doing the same thing and not even touching the water bottle. Now I fill the bowl up with shells and put a bit of water in it. They move the shells around to get to the water. I think it gives them a better idea of where the water is in the bowl. Plus, super esy to clean the shells (twice a day because they dirty everything up in a matter of minutes!:grin2)

I really like the Lixit bottles compared to some of the other pets store bottles. It is worth the little extra money. It is glass and easy to clean. The amount the comes out is not too much. I had a plastic one, but I didn't like it because of the large water droplets.
Keep trying. I've learned that each animal is a little different!
