So my cutie Dean who was doing very good is has taking a turn in the wrong direction. He refused to eat formula last night and refused it this morning. He hasn't been out nibbling on his rodent blocks. He just stays in his nest on the heated side when I take him out he just try's to get away from me and grinds his teeth together. I haven't seen any signs of pneumonia but its my first fear. I was going to take him to the vet Friday when I get paid again but I think.he needs someone more experienced than me now! I don't want to let this cute guy go but don't want him to die because I was selfish either... I'd like to stay in the loop though.

Teeth grinding is a sign of discomfort. Do you happen to have infant ibuprofin? Only the liquid infant kind, not the adult pills.
Will alert a few members to your plea.
EDIT: Sent some PMs - hopefully you'll have some help soon! :hug Hang in there little Dean.
Just saw the pneumonia part...Hold him up to your ear - do you hear any clicking when he breaths?

Yesterday he seemed to be bloated and constipated so I tried the things that were in some of the threads about constipation. I think those things just worked because he just took a huge poop on my chest and is now crawling around more happy like...

How much, what, and how often is he eating?

He was eating kmr and was doing good on it we switched to Esbilac yesterday morning. He was eating 7 CCs every 4-5 hours. I just got him to eat 3cc. He seems a little better...

What's his weight? Did you gradually switch the formula or make an abrupt change?

I did what Rapsody suggested and flushed him with water for the a night and switched in the morning to the other. And I honestly don't know how much he weights I haven't been able to get a scale.

I think I just found the problem. After he ate I went to wash him off with a wet cloth and all inside his leg is red and raw looking like diaper rash kinda. When I gently wiped it he squeaked a lot. And I have children's Motrin liquid but not infants.

Good to know about the flushing, sorry for asking, just trying to cover everything.
I know you know this, but you really need to get a scale. He could be over-eating, which could cause his bloat.

I'm sorry I'm not familiar with Deans history. Is the red from a wound or is this urine scald from peeing on himself? If it's urine scald I would GENTLY bathe him in warm water. Make sure he doesn't get cold. Dry him and put some antibiotic ointment on the red to soothe the burning. You'll need to change his bedding often and not let urine stay on his skin. If it's urine scald it is exactly like diaper rash.

That's what it looks like to me. He did not have a wound on that leg. It looks like milk or urine burn. I washed it and patted it dry but I did t know about ointments for it is triple antibiotic okay to use?

Thank you so much for your offer!! I am so happy to know there is someone local who knows more about squirrels. He seems to be doing much better now he has been coming out of his nest and eating blocks again and ate a normal lunch. I think he may have just been a little blocked up and uncomfortable and once we worked that out this am he is feeling better! I may have just been a little paranoid but can I have a number to reach you if anything should happen?

So Dean has been eating fine and seems okay HOWEVER now his other eye is swelling! So I am sure it is an Infection and of course I was supposed to get paid more but my check got shorted! Do either one of my local rehabbers have antibiotics or would be willing to take on Dean?!

Just letting everyone know I picked Dean up this morning. All seems well atm, I will treat his eyes with antibiotic ointment, then see how he does through out the day, updates later.
