Found dead infant

I found a dead baby squirrel (infant) in the middle of my back yard! I hate to tell this... but it seemed to have died in a crawling position... so, apparently it didn't immediately die. :sadness My question is... HOW did it get THERE?!! Good grief! We are expecting storms over the next couple of days (hurricane in FL) and I will be out searching for fallen babies at sun up.

Lots of things could have happened, if you dont see any injuries than perhaps he/she got separated from mom? Keep an eye open for their siblings.

There is a TINY single limb that's just above where I found the baby... but no drays anywhere near there.

He might have been a victim of predation. A hawk or crow could have dropped him there. :(
