i have a 6-6 1/2 female baby that was very skinny when i got her. Now she is walking around when it's feeding time and is 62 grams. What is the normal weight of a baby her age?

That is WAY too small/skinny.
What are you feeding her.
Can you post a picture.
I have an eyes closed baby, (as of yesterday, he opened them today), and he is 152 grams.

Can you post a picture?

Birth: between 15 & 25 grams
1 week: between 25 & 60 grams
2 weeks: between 60 & 70 grams
3 weeks: between 70 & 80 grams
4 weeks: between 80 & 120 grams
5 weeks: between 120 & 150 grams
6 weeks: between 150 & 250 grams
7-8 weeks: greater than 250 grams

.............. this is based on Average Weight - and can vary

I'm feeding her 7 percent of he body weight, should i be feeding more because of how skinny she is? Just weighed her again and she is 64 before feeding.

How many cc's are you feeding her at each feeding,
and how often do you feed?
Meaning how many times a day does she eat and what amount?
IF we increase, we have to do it slowly to avoid diarrhea.

How long has she been on the full strength Esbilac?

How long has she been on the full strength Esbilac?

About 2 days

We are trying to help but we cannot help very well if we cannot get the information needed to help.

Your baby is critically underweight IMO; I use the word critical since it seems he was found on the 23rd (from your other post) and not up to full strength Esbilac until the 28th, is that correct? 5 (five) days is an extremely long time to get up to full strength Esbilac. I am not sure what transpired over those 5 days (which is why we like to keep all the available info on a squirrel in trouble in a single thread, so all the info is in that same thread). He has some catching up to do but first things first... we need to know what is happening now so we can what adjustments might help us help you help him catch up! So...

A concern is that sometimes people are reading the syringe wrong, or are unsure of the percentages.
If you can just tell us how often, and how much your little one is eating, we can better figure this out.
What size syringes are you using?

Here's a photo of 4 little babies I got a few years back.
The finder thought he was giving the correct amount, when
in actuality he was giving .5 instead of 5 mLs of formula
Mistakes happen, and we learn.

I got these babies turned around, and all
4 were successfully released. :w00t

Iv'e already given this information. 4 grams is equal to 4 cc's every 4 hours.

I think she left of the 6 in 64 which is what she stated the baby weighed and she was feeding 7% of body weight. (4th post)

I did not see this information.. maybe it is in a different thread? :dono

The 4ml per feeding for a 64 gram squirrel is "in the range".. 7% would be almost 4.5ml. I would be wanting her to take 4.5ml - 5ml per feeding since she needs to put on weight, but increase it slowly, like by 0.25ml per feeding.

How much cream are you adding to how much formula?

There is a product made by Fox Valley called Ultra Boost that is specifically designed to be added to formula to increase the fat content while also adding much needed protein. It is more easily digested than the heavy (cow) cream. I think this little one needs all the help she can get, and Ultra Boost will be a big advantage in helping her gain weight more rapidly and catch up! :thumbsup

I saw that post.
BUT some people don't know what 7% is and I just wanted to make sure.
And I never saw how often they were feeding until just today.

We've actually had members think the 5-7% is for the entire day. :eek
That's why we always say at each feeding and make sure they are feeding
enough times.

Some people also don't know the difference between feeding .5 mL and 5 mL :shakehead

I assumed if you wanted to know what 7 percent was you'd jut convert it? And i'm a man, which i thought was obvious by my user name and pictures. i am feeding her the regular amount that is recommended and increasing slowly, and i would appreciate you asking questions in a more civil way without implying im being lazy with my baby. To answer another of your questions the reason it took her so long to get on full strength was because she was having a lot of diarrhea, so i had to do it slowly. Now she is on full strength formula and i increase the percentage of feeding every time she gains weight. She was skinny when i got her, I am working her up slowly and she always tries to stop feeding just before the recommended amount, I'm actually trying to make her eat more by taking bathroom breaks and giving her a breather. She is not being starved. I understand that you are also worried about her, as am i, but there are better tones to use.

That post was to me. We don't mean to sound rude or abrupt but many of us are feeding around the clock and are short on time and low on coffee. :grin3 You would be surprised at some of the people who do not understand how to figure the feeding amounts or how to read a syringe. Sorry for not knowing you were a guy. Your name does not make it obvious and your profile pic is not showing up in the posts at least not on mine. Many of us don't go to members actual profile pages when responding.

Sounds like you are on the right track with this little one. I do also recommend using the Ultraboost on the slow gainers. It's a lot easier on them and I see great weight gains.

I suppose i was being a little testy. Iv'e been outside in the heat all day tending to my other animals as well as the baby so i was a little frustrated. Mostly i guess i didn't enjoy feeling like i was being accused of not caring for her enough. so thank you for being understanding. Where can i get that ultra boost? Pictures are showing in my settings but not my page so i may need to upload a new file, thank you for pointing that out, lol. thats mostly why i even responded a little testy because i thought it was visible and that was just an insult. Glad to see it wasn't.

No problem. This heat is enough to make anyone testy. :grin2 You can order Ultraboost at Henry's Healthy Pets. It's usually a flat rate to ship and many of us use a 50/50 mixture of Esbilac and Fox Valley 20/50 formula after babies open their eyes. We also start introducing either they Healthy Blocks or a good quality rodent block when eyes open. They'll waste it at first until they figure out it's good to eat.

Then we assumed it was because she was starving.....cuz we really didn't know how long she was away from her mother. Oh I may have it confused with another...we've had a lot of young ones in recently with problems. Does she have a name yet? She's very cute....I love her nose :klunk

That's really ok, i didn't realize my picture wasn't showing for everyone, so i will be adding a new one. Yes she's doing really good, she must have been away from her mother for at least a day when i was able to get to the friends' sister that had her. Thy tried to give her some home made pedialyte but didn't give her near enough. I think i did ask before about he back legs not moving, but now that she's being fed consistently she's walks around a lot more, i think her overall weakness was making her not be able to move them. Her name is mischa since my last squirrel was named Hannibal (that's his little sister if you aren't familiar with the red dragon series). I was getting posts confused because everyone has a pic of a squirrel for a profile picture and they were blending for me lol. Thank you for the advice and understanding.

Alright, I have oxbow blocks for young adult rats that I'm giving her softened with a little honey water. She has nibbled on a few of them so far. Thanks for being understanding and for the information.

The Oxbox is a a good choice as far as off the shelf rat blocks, but it is largely "filler" and will not provide the complete nutrition a squirrel needs. The Henry's Healthy Blocks from Henry's Healthy Pets will provide complete nutrition by feeding only 2 -3 each day (so will the formula!). Here is the link to the healthy squirrel diet pyramid:
http://thesquirrelboard.com/forums/showthread.php?44440-Healthy-Diet-for-Pet-Squirrels

As far as being understanding, please understand we asked a very specific question (I know Nancy asked and I repeated the question): how many CC's your were feeding (and yes, this was after the 7% of body weight was posted). We asked specifically, for the specific purpose of double checking and confirming. We see it all around here... from bad calculations, to not understanding how to read a syringe and confusing "0.5ML" with "5ML"; in fact this happened just in the last couple days... poor babies were getting 0.5ML for DAYS AND DAYS instead of 5ML despite the finder getting assistance / coaching from a person that (I believe) has literally rehabbed thousands of squirrels. Just imagine the consequences of that! None of us trying to help want to risk making any assumptions! And at other times (all too often) folks come on the board looking for help and then are evasive when answering specific questions... but if we don't have good information, we cannot give good advice! Speaking of advice... that is another issue: So many get great advice and then ignore it! :fish
