MIA Adult Squirrel

I raised 3 baby grays last year, and 2 still come around for food. A month and a half ago was the last time I saw the one that is missing, but he was always the one to come around the least, but would appear at least once a week, maybe a little longer. The larger male seemed like he was wounded a bit, but that's before we realized that the other male was missing for more than usual. He had a small patch of fur missing from his head and his skin on the underside of his tail had an abrasion, and fur on his tail was more scant than usual. It didn't take long for him to heal, but I am worried that they fought to the death and he won. (He had another bad fight when we was younger, he was drab for a while) I raised another single squirrel 2 years ago, and when she did wild up, I didn't see her for 3-4 months so I am not going to rule out seeing the missing male squirrel again.

Unfortunately, I have buried several wild squirrels this year, they either got hit by a car or fell off the telephone wires. One of my favorite wild squirrels passed away, she used to live in the tree right outside, so the female I raised from last year moved from her cage to that same tree, and is working on her second litter of kits. (Her first litter was in her cage)

I know the odds are against him, but I will never forget the little guy. (Spike)

My Zippy went missing for months and then suddenly appeared a few times and is now gone again. I think it is more likely that the boys move to other territories and might visit rather than live close by. Prayers for at least a sighting of your Spike. I also have some wilds that will go MIA for weeks or longer and then suddenly appear one day and act like they never left.:tap

This is the hard hard part of doing this 'ministry'. I love raising the little ones but I have to say that I do not have a lot of joy releasing them, even though that is the way it must be. It is a hard life for these beautiful wonderful creatures.
