Mischa is my second baby squirrel in raising. Unlike my first one, Hannibal, I did not find her myself an a friend of mine did. Unfortunately I wasn't able to get to mischa for a whole day and she was very dehydrated when I got her. I started her on pedialyte immediately in the car and her skin was going down faster at the end of the day on Tuesday. However it is now Saturday night and she appears dehydrated again even tho she's been drinking formula. She is also still skinny but I'm not sure how quickly they can gain weight. Abu tips for me? I've stopped giving her formula and just a pedialyte as for now in case anyone needs to know.

I would continue the formula...and hydrate inbetween feeding with sugar water:great the pedialyte has too many other things in it...we recommend stopping it after 24 hours.

Do you know how much she weighs...and how much, and how often are you feeding her? You can add supplements to her formula to fatten her up...like ultraboost ....but first I would make sure she's getting the right amount of reg formula :great

:bowdown Thank you, thank you for helping her :Love_Icon

More info on her age and weight...and what you are feeding her would be helpful also :great

Oh and it can take a few days for them to start gaining....especially in the beginning...I'd start worrying if she starts losing.:Love_Icon

She does look thin...and weak in her eyes....could just be me tho ....I'm guessing she weighs :dono 70 grams. :facepalm I would try and feed her 5 or 6 mL or cc's...per feeding...and offer her water inbetween feedings...is she drinking good...have an appetite? :thinking without a scale to monitor any losses or gains it's hard to know. :dono she's precious....thank you for helping her :Love_Icon

She really likes the pedialyte but the formula not so much. With the formula I usually have to force the nipple in her mouth and squeeze a little at the time so she can swallow it down. It's the same formula (esbilac) I used for my previous baby but maybe she's just too dehydrated to want it?

With a baby that is compromised, it is so important/vital to get a scale and do a daily wt. I can not stress that enough. How much are you feeding and how many times a day. Please don't guess for this baby, he/she needs calculated support with a scale.

Are you feeding with a kitten/animal bottle feeder?

Thank you for helping this baby. You are saving its little life!

Is this the powdered puppy esbilac?
Make sure that you make it warm enough.
If she is dehydrated keep pushing hydration in between feeding.
Add just a touch of honey to the water and she may take it better.
Also remember to warm it like you would formula.
Hydration is KEY.

Would you like us to try to find a rehabber for this little one?
