Hello everyone, first I'd like to start off and say I'm not inexperienced when it comes with squirrels or babies squirrels for that matter. I've raised 4 of them and have one waiting for release. However I am no expert so I'm here seeking out advice.

I am good friends with Cesta. She will gladly take him to try and pair up with her newest addition. However I am in a bit of a dilemma.

I had a sudden urge to go outside and sit on my back yard swing. I would never in a million years choose to do this because the sun was blaring down on it. Upon doing so I saw him, crawling along the grass.. into the bushes. I decided to watch him and figure out what I needed to do. After about 5mintues I decided to grab him because he appeared to be thin and hungry as he was chewing on a branch.

He's slightly dehydrated which I am in the process of fixing. I also have blocks and formula ready.

No injuries. So im shocked how he ended up where he ended. Completely baffling!

This is my question. Any possibility of a reunion with his mother? If so, how should I go about doing this correctly and safely considering I have tons of cats in my neighborhood. or if we should consider him an orphan and go from there? (already checked for other babies and mom) Thanks!

His eyes are opened right?
When you say crawling, is it because he's young, or had a fall?
Do you see any adult squirrels around?
Thanks for helping this little one.

I tried uploading a photo but for some reason my phone is being a butt. His tail is buahy. His eyes and ears are open and he's showing interest in solids tho I'm not feeding him yet.

Really annoys me i cant upload a photo. But he's drinking well and becoming a champion cuddle bug.

Also no squirrels. my area has very little squirrels so I was extremely weirded out by finding a baby. I've seen one out a few days ago and my neighbor said this morning running around but not as of recently.

Yes! They really truly are. I love all of my squirrels. It's almost like I was supposed to be outside when I was. It was amazing.

If you were going to try to reunite with momma, you would need to put the squirrel in an area close to where you found it, or the direction it was crawling from. Then you would just sit and observe to see if momma came back and to be sure no cats or other wildlife got it. From my experience when they are that age and they are out and about, it's because something has happened to the momma. Please check again for a sibling. I found my boys a day apart. One ventured out of the tree before the other. Thanks for helping this little one. :Love_Icon

I'm wondering if he might not be a baby. He has a really thick, bushy tail for a baby. (Maybe all babies in your area have thick tails.??) If you are brave enough to look, what do his incisors look like?

If anyone wants to watch him grow up with Rosie, he's in the nursery, in the "H4S brought me Christmas in July" thread.
