I got a mineral block in the rodent section of the pet store a while back when I was loading up on everything squirrel (per the internet). I let Basil, my 7-8 week old boy see it and he went ape **** over it and licked and nibbled it and then kept sticking his tongue out. I imagine it's salty and I haven't seen him drink water from the shallow dish or hanging water bottle yet. I took it away from him.

When can baby have a mineral block in the cage and do they have to be drinking water?

I think the mineral block is fine. I would monitor how much he eats just to be on the safe side. I am not sure there really is anything to worry about but you could put it in with your squirrel for an hour or so a few times a day. Like with anything new, he could eat too much and get diarrhea so be careful. I think if he gets thirsty he will find the water bowl and /or the water bottle. The babies do need something to chew on especially if they are teething. :grin3
