Help self suckling

120 gram 6/7 weeks NOT WEANING YET male. Had in care since 3 weeks old.
Just started a few days ago.
Tried no bite for human nails. Did not work .
Bitter Apple spray did not work.
Tried vet wrap. He got out of it. Multiple times.
Tried paper tape he managed to get his penis out. Multiple times. I HAVE NEVER seen paper tape not work. Same brand and wrap the way I have used before.
He is self sucking. Caught him in the act. Separating won't help :(
Tried baby sock.. Um yeah.. Can't get legs in the hole and when I do it does not stay on.

At a totally loss. Why now?
He's like a teenage squirrel that just found "it".

When I had that issue and nothing worked, I gave him a Miracle Nipple to chew on/play with. I really think it helped!

Ill try that then.. I got his penis to stay in the wrap last night.. So he mutilated his nut sack instead. What a boy! That has to hurt. Oddly I went back into his chart and he actually ARRIVED with a small scab. I guess we just had a few weeks of good luck .

Guess you could try some Lidocane. If it's numb maybe he'll leave it alone. Boy has entirely too much fun playing alone.

I put a small amount of ground cloves or allspice on males' penises (not occluding the opening). This has worked for me as squirrels dislike the strong smell.

I've often though about trying to create a binkie/pacifier out of a Miracle nipple. You could stuff the nipple with plastic??? or something to keep him from sucking in excessive air and then sew it very securely to a plush animal. I wouldn't use one of the flimsy clear nipples to do this, but use the smallest, thick Miracle nipple. If you make him a pacifier, please post a photo and describe how you made it. :)

Yeah, this guy is significantly larger than your squirrel, but he's using a pacifier. Baby mammals suck to self-sooth and to fall asleep.

Sounds like he does! I wonder if the Lidocane would interfere with him emptying his bladder due to the lack of sensation? Poor thing has got to give his bits and pieces a break.

Steph, I got a couple of these to try in cases like that http://www.catpacifier.com. Haven't had a reason to use them yet so I can't say whether they work or not, but maybe with a little honey on it for extra incentive one of these might be preferable to the one he's been using...

Maybe cutting a tiny hole in vet tape and putting a miracle nipple that has something keeping the hole from giving him too much air over his penis? Maybe duct tape to prevent air getting through? I don't know how or if that could work?
