Just a question here. How does one take a squirrel to another state for medical attention???? I do not ever travel. Are there check points at statelines where your car is searched??? Just asking in case my boy ever needs Dr Emerson

No, no checkpoints. You need to be careful though. Make sure your brake lights work. Don't speed. Don't carry them out where they can be easily seen in the car, etc.

I am sure that is a very stressful trip for squirrel and human, not to mention the surgery stress. I hope my boy never needs it done.

You would be surprised at how UNSTRESSFUL a car trip can be for squirrels. I took mine on a couple of 2 hr trips and never heard a peep out of them or any trauma associated with it. You do what you HAVE to do at times. :grin3

Wow I would have thought they would freak out being out of their home, safe zone.

Others will come on and post their experience with Dr.E.
I am in Costa Rica and have a wonderful squirrel --the CRUISER DUDE. :dude--that came to me as a baby, with a bloodied face over 6 years ago. He is showing signs of odontoma. WE do NOT have vets with small animal (squirrel) experience, ( only treat dogs, cats , horses...etc.). and X-ray is not an option where I live. So I am self-diagnosing his problem.
What are your squirrels symptoms ??? that tend to make you think odontoma ?

There are folks here that have experience with this. You'll have to wait until one of them gets on. I hope she feels better once she's seen.:Love_Icon

The price of the surgery varies, I believe, but it is very reasonable compared to other vets that do this surgery. Dr. Emerson is usually willing to review X-rays if you have some and can send them to her. Call the office and speak with someone about your situation.

Her success rate is pretty darn good. She not only does this surgery on squirrels, but prairie dogs are notorious for developing odontomas and she treats them too.

Where in Florida are you located?
