Trying to help someone with an injured 3 week old squirrel. She called the closest rehabber and they told her 'So the rehab center said he is likely too young to be rehabilitated.'. At about 3 weeks? I thought any age would be able to be rehabilitated. I would hate to drive all the way down there just for them to put him down. (copied off her fb message to me). Do we have anyone in that area, does anyone know? I told her to join and I am trying to help her. Baby has a would to front leg.275752

Sorry I got nothing for Colorado. :dono
Too young to be rehabbed tells me if they can't just throw food in at them they don't take time to actually rehabilitate.

I got your email and I can try to help. I'm really concerned that this little guy is not responsive to the syringe. I left my phone number with you Spanky.
I am far from an expert, but have successfully rehabbed 3 squirrels that were about a week old which I released in April 2012 - I still see them every so often, although I haven't seen Hope for a few weeks now :(

He is getting better, he was just very dehydrated. He has begun to pee and had his first poop too (combo of mom poop and some yellow diarrhea, but since all he has been on is fluids, not surprising). I told her to start diluted formula today, but to continue with the honey water between feedings, to make sure his hyration stays up. I sent her your number. Thank you!!

Great to hear, Pappy. I hope he continues to get better and your friend can handle it. Please have her call if she needs anything. Also, please warn her about the syringes, to use only a 1mm and only go to a 3mm and to use an oring syringe as that is safer, last longer and prevents too much fluid going in at once.
Praying this little guys gets rehabbed, released and lives a long healthy life.
