Got two calls last night for pinkies, they always come in groups. Anyways I've picked up the one, a male about 1-2 weeks and he was brought in by a cat. He's got a few tiny bruises on him, and a Larger one with two small puncture wounds on his stomach. I'm currently rehydrating him and getting him warmed up but I think I need to start him on AB's as soon as possible. I have cipro 500mg if anyone could help me with dosing as soon as I get home and get a weight on him. In addition to that how can I treat his puncture wounds? Besides cleaning it with soap and water? I'd appreciate any help I can get! These little cat bitten guys scare me a little...

I have betadine at home I can flush it with, but I used an BZK antiseptic wipe thing to quickly clean it and I applied some triple antibiotic ointment (bacitracin & neomycin) that I had in a little kit in my car. I can flush it with betadine at home again but it's not an open wound it's pretty dried up. I'll try to take some pictures of wounds and get a weight in the next hour. And i should use cipro instead of clavamox for cat bites correct?

Weight on the boy is 22g, I would love help with dosage and maybe a refresher on how to do the water suspension for 500 mg tablet? Here is pics of him, I think he might still have his umbilical cord but I can't tell, maybe it's part of the puncture wound?

You might need to repost this in the emergency forum if you haven't heard back from someone about dosing. I know it's very important to get the meds started ASAP after a cat bite.

How is the little one doing? Were you able to get some meds into him?

He seems to be doing well. I gave him his second dose of ABs today, and I give him probiotics (Bene bac) at night. His wound seems to be scabbing over nicely and since he's processing all his food well (he's eating diluted GM formula now, switching of of the hydrating solution) so hopefully no internal damage. He doesn't seem to be in any pain so that's a good sign..should I keep using the betadine flush, or leave it since it's healing over? Also after his wound heals up a bit more, what is your guys thoughts on putting him in with a 42 gram (2-3) weeker? He's 22 grams and approx 1-2 weeks? I just think they'd be better off together even though there's an age gap
