This thread is exclusively devoted to the question in the title. New landlord wants to take over the apartment on August 1st (which is against the law), and may try things, so I am doing my best to plan in advance.
(Of course, that's against the law, as I am due 30 days notice. I could also file a stay of execution, but that is all likely to make the new landlord feel less cooperative toward me. I am working on the relationship issue as I just spoke with him for the first time today. His previous encounters have been with the 1st floor neighbor who is hostile toward squirrels to the point of making up stories which could anger someone if they believed him. Okay, let's go back to the question in the title.)
