Caught her this morning with a net. She is now is a large one story cage (half a ferret nation as that is all I have and she would chew right through/out of a cat carrier in no time) in my room. Have cage covered with blankets and filled the inside with fleece blankets and put a little nest box with fleece in it in there for her to hide in. Put food in.

She is a spit fire and very mad and active. She is growling and lunging but also she will be calm and look at me when I check on her or put stuff in cage.

Need some help as to how to treat or dose meds. I have metacam or buprenex?

Keep her quiet in her covered Ferret cage. As we discussed, you can start her on Metacam today at 0.10ml single dose. Tormorrow give her a single dose at 0.05ml. You can stick her metacam in a little piece of peanut butter that you can place on a little saucer. Make sure she has a small bowl of water always available. I think she needs a couple weeks to heal and then hopfully she will recover and can be released.

Thanks for helping her!:w00t

Pete, The new bottle of Angel's Metacam that I have is as follows:

Metacam (meloxicam)
0.5 mg/ml Oral Suspension

Dose for Angel who's weight fluctuated between 630 grams - 700 grams as follows:

0.1ML - 0.2ML by mouth once daily as needed. Use minimal amount necessary to control inflammation and pain.

Do you still suggest the 0.1ML dose for female since she is only 4 months old and a lot smaller than Angel?

Double check the strength. Is it 1.5mg/ml or 0.5 mg/ml?

If it is 0.5mg/ml strength, you can give her 0.24ml for a loading dose and then 0.12ml dose per day.

If the strength is 1.5mg/ml, you can give her 0.08ml as a loading dose and then 0.04ml dose per day.

These doses are for a 400g squirrel.

The prescription/my vets label, the actual box and the actual bottle all say:

Metacam (meloxicam)

0.5mg/ml Oral Suspension

Net contents 15ml

Hi MBT,

Wondering if you are still working with that female and if so how are both of you doing?

Thank you for asking - yes she is still with me. To me - I really don't think things are going all that good as far as recovery.
