I discovered a tumor inside of Hazels mouth. She is 7 years old and in good health all but this tumor. She has a Dr.s appointment tomorrow for the Dr to check it out. Has any one here on the board have similar problems I'd like to hear of your experience. Most of all I'm asking all squirrel board prayer warriors to find time and a bent knee for Hazel tonight. Needless to say I'm scared to death. Hazel is my heart.:please

Yes, be sure to get an X-ray of the head. Are you sure it's a tumor?

Hazel and I just got home and she had to have a bad back tooth pulled and the tumor was filled with that cottage cheese type infection it was on the back of her tongue Dr thinks because the tooth had a sharp edge and at some point cut her. Dr gave me the tooth and said it was for the tooth fairy. Now she starts with antibiotics to nuke the infection. Thanks for all the prayers.

That sounds like good news! So an abscess and nothing cancerous? Hope both of you are feeling much better now!

Can you tell us what antibiotics you got?

Just got on after a road trip. Sure am glad your girl is on the mend and it was NOT a tumor. Bet Hazel is feeling a LOT better!

The antibiotics the Good Doctor gave Hazel's mom were cipro, metronidazole, and SMZ - at least until he gets results of the tests, and then the meds might change.

rusty's mom - hope you don't mind me responding to this. I know you and Hazel had a rough day.

Thanks Janie jump in any time. Hazel is loving the pecan flavored ensure and also some apple-blueberry baby food to wash away nasty tasting antibiotics. Anything for Hazel:Love_Icon

What did Dr. B. find? is Hazel still on the same 3 meds? or did he change them? How is her mouth?

He didn't call back so I take it the meds were right from beginning. she 's off of them now and doing great.

Wise mamma, to recognize something was very wrong with her girl, and to consult a vet :clap. Wise vet to use the Big Three to combat whatever that thing was :dance.

Please tell Hazel that I actually had something similar on my toungue a few years ago, caused by a sharp, broken molar. It was awful, and I had to take Augmentin for it. :tilt
