Meet Zoya
Zoya was found roughly 2 years ago at a nearby park, by myself, only minutes after she fell from a ginormous Oak tree. When i found her she had a very severe headtilt and was unable to sit upright (see Picture 2). I was unable to take her in myself for various reasons so my Mom (also a licensed wildlife rehabber) was kind enough to give her shelter while she recovered. As you can kind of see in Picture #3, she has improved since found and is now able to climb a few feet in her cage, her headtilt is less severe and she can REALLY ricochet around her cage if you need to grab her (she also has been known to bite once or twice). My Mom says she is doing really well but is definitely not release-ready.. which is where this post comes in. My Mom isn't really into Wildlife Rehabilitation anymore and is looking for someplace safe for Miss Zoya to go.. Over the past 2 years a lot has been thrown onto my Mom's "plate" and she just wants Zoya to go somewhere where she can get more attention and care than she is able to give and Zoya deserves.

Aww bless your heart for taking her in and putting so much time and effort into her. She is very lucky to have you! I wish I lived closer as well, but I am in MN :( Otherwise I would absolutely LOVE to take her! The one time I ever got a neuro squirrel when I first started and was inexperienced, I brought him to a wildlife vet, and he got euthanized without my consent (I named him Irish because he had severe head tilt and acted like a drunk Irish man). To this day, it breaks my heart because I see now how I could have cared for him if only I knew what I know now. So, in honor of Irish who I miss on a daily basis, I promised myself I would always give every neuro squirrel a chance to have a happy and healthy life :)

THANK YOU for giving this one a chance :) I really wish I could take her! If only I lived closer I would in a heartbeat. Hope she finds a loving home soon.

I'm glad you found a home for her! :blowkiss

YEARS (35-38 yrs) ago when I was very young and inexperienced, I got a nest of babies and one of them had dried blood coming from her nose. I cleaned her up and began raising the babies. Feeding that baby was very difficult because moved her head so much that I could barely get the nipple in her mouth but once in - she ate very well. She behaved the same as the others except she couldn't walk or run in a straight line, and when she jumped from one tree branch to another (inside a spare room) she didn't stay on TOP of the branch after landing! She instead slid underneath the branch! Then she'd right herself and run a few feet and then slid underneath again. This was an on going issue. Back then the wildlife organizations were either non existent are few and far between, and a rehab license wasn't required. I understood enough to feel that she would not do well in the wild, and thought I might need to keep her. So, one afternoon I took the babies out to play in the sun and I LOST HER!!!! We stayed up all night looking for her but never found her! We searched nonstop for over a week but never found her! And then about a year or maybe more later, I was feeding the wild squirrels on a second floor balcony when I suddenly heard a LOT of noise coming towards me through the trees. I could hear limbs moving excessively, and then SAW limbs moving and bouncing wildly... and it was coming towards me! It was so odd that I didn't know what to think. Finally, I saw a huge squirrel rocketing right at me... and then I notice a familiar movement pattern. The squirrel jumped from limb to limb and then slid underneath, limb to limb and then slid underneath... it jumped from the limb to the deck and slid underneath the railing... and then stopped in front of me and I recognized HER! She was big and beautiful... and healthy! :grouphug
