lulu has an appointment today to see thevet about her leg. she now walks on it a little but still doesnt put all her weight on it. she is eating just fine even though she wants either the milk or baby food instead of the squrriel blocks-.- so i have to blind it into her food. i have fixed her calcium amount and she is doing alot better besides her food. but her behavior has changed alot. she is a big cuddle bug with me and just falls asleep on my chest after she eats. but with my boyfriend who has lived with me and been around her and help rasie her she just bites and doesnt want him to touch her:/ hes feed her when she was a baby and was lettinf her out and playing with her during the day while i was at work. and last week before her leg was her she bit him so hard he was bleeding for a really lomg time. she lets him pet her if shes in my hands but she wont come out of the cage for him or anything and she was alwasy ready to run around. and just last night my brother was over and hes been around her since she was a baby too but he was petting her while she was in my hands but once i put her up he tried to pet her through her cage which she likes most of the time she grabed his finger and bit it so hard he was bleeding for and hour on both sides of his finger. do youthink its because she doesnt feel good that shes doing this to people?? its no one new its all people that have been around since she was a baby and it makes me really worried because i dont want her to be locked up all day while im at work but my boyfriend doesnt want to get bit again. has anyone else has this happen with MBD?? is her mood going to change back when she gets better??

From everything I've read, it's very normal for them to only befriend one human and distrust the rest.
It's wonderful that Lulu is doing better!

Maybe she is growing up and starting to wild up a bit. Or she just doesn't feel well and is less tolerant. Only time will tell.
I hope everything goes well at the vet. Why would the vet take her away from you?

i have always hated doctors i feel like they are always going to say bad news. and i feel like the vets going to say i need to put her down or something and i wouldnt want her to suffer for my own selfish reasons but i just would be heart broken:/

Hon, she just has a sore leg, possibly as a result of the MBD. It may also be why she is reacting badly to your BF - she doesn't feel good. Make certain the vet does not confiscate - call and ask them point blank. If they recommend euthanasia, pick her up, thank them pay them and leave with her!

There is NO reason to 'put her down' OR 'take her from you' so don't even think that.

Is this the vet Anne recommended or the other guy? Both are exotic vets so I see no problem at all.

ok back from the vet. it is broken but it will have to geal on its own and she got some pain killers and calcium. she said her legs are bowed and she said her tendens are messed up (most like from her falling from the tree and her legs getting caught on something) so after her leg is healed she will start another medicine to hopfully correct the muscles. but everything else is good:)

Sorry to hear the leg is broken but I'm glad you had a vet evaluate it so that you know what you're dealing with. I'm glad it will heal on it's own. I bet her pain is what's causing her to be aggressive and 'bitey' with the BF. I'm sure when her pain is controlled and the leg mends she will be back to her normal behavior.

Glad to hear your little girl is on the mend. There is a healthy diet for squirrels on this forum that lists veggies that are recommended. I googled veggies high in calcium and the top 5 were collard greens, curly kale (scotch), arugula, turnip greens and kale. I believe some of these did not make the "recommended" feeding list on the squirrel healthy diet, but I'm not sure why. It could be because they contain a very improper balance of phosphorous to calcium ratio. I hope lulu's sweet disposition returns, it's not fun getting chomped. :hug

and this place was awsome!!! they have seen the same thing that happened to lulu in another squirrel so they knew what to do in a heart bet! the vet even showed me the xray of the other squirrel and explained how it would heal. they showed and explained everything to me about the medication. the vet told me the price of everything before she did it to make sure i could afford it and it was the exact price at the end (some places tell you one number and then at the end they add chrges saying they had to do more stuff without actually doing it or not adding everything in the first time they tell you) also they called this morning to see how she was doing!:)
