Just got a call that someone found an adult squirrel who most likely got electrocuted as it was found right next to all those things (sorry, forget the technical term) that transmit electricity.
What are "first aid" steps in this situation:
So far:
1) decided no heating pad in case there is a head trauma, just lots of blankets for her to keep her warm if she needs it.
2) hydration? - since we do not know exactly what the symptoms are and how the sq is doing/feeling, I am not sure whether or not the sq can drink.
3) Does the sq need any meds? Prednizone if there is neuro trauma?
I am supposed to get more details about the sq's condition. So, I will post them as soon as I hear.
In the meantime, what should/can be done (even if we do not know exactly how bad the sq's condition is)?
Thank you!!

astra, do a search on the board for electrocution, hopefully you will find something
helpful. I have never dealt with this before.
I will be off board for about an hour. :grouphug

thank you, as always, Nancy!
I passed this on, and I also found one of the older threads with Jackie's suggestions :)
But if someone has any other useful (or potentially useful) info - please share!!!

We had an electrocuted squirrels sheesh 3 or 4 years ago. Was so sad
First thing we did was GET GLOVES and we used gloves for they bite..alot.
We checked for burns and treated those injuries
and then we tried to hydrate he was not eating too well so hubby held him and I fed him. Hubby will tell you every time i took the bottle out to refil the squirrel would bite him (he had on gloves so it was no big issues)
We hydrated and then bottle fed for hmm i think it was almost a week. Then when he started back eating he still stayed in the house for another ttree weeks and then we transitioned him to outside. In total I think he stayed with us for about 4 months.
We did not use a heating pad but we did gives LOTS of fleece and other bedding material that he could use. We also made sure he had tree limbs etc to climb on although the first few days he was just weak and pretty much laid there.
I found there is really nothing you can do for these guys except treat any burns and be patient as they regain their strength. It took awhile and was slow every little *normal* action was a huge celebration. So just be patient
wish i could help more
good luck!
