View Full Version : My little fella has a broken arm and i need some help please!
Hey guys and girls, ive got two baby eastern gray squirrels ive raised from a pup. i actually retrieved them out of a chimney and theyve done great!. Last night my boy leaped onto a shampoo bottle and fell and i believe it fell on him, hes dragging his left arm and is able to slightly move his fingers and can slightly lift his arm. I read that they heal quickly and to not be too overly upset but my concern is that is it broken, or is it out of joint. I also dissolved some baby asprin and gave him a couple drops with his food this morning. If anyone could share some info it would be greatly appreciated i cant stand to hear him cry.

I don't know enough about what is the best next step for your little guy, but I do know that a weight and pictures or video would be helpful to determine what might be wrong as well as to be able to give dosing for meds. Someone should be on here soon to help. Also the age of your guys. Hang tight.

No more dosing aspirin like that! :nono Tell us exactly what time he received the aspirin.
Do you have any infant ibuprofen? If not, go get some. The Infant version, squirrel take the white grape and berry flavors easily.
Do you have a vet that will see him to look at that arm? You don't want it to heal badly and not be able to release him as a result. If he is so miserable he is crying out he needs a vet.
Do you have a weight on the little guy? If not, please weigh him and we'll help with some ibuprofen for pain. You can get a digital kitchen scale (if you do not have one) at Walmart for like $20 that will work perfectly for this purpose.
It was an 81mg baby asprin dissolved in 1 cup of water and i gave him a couple drops from a syringe. i will post a pic soon and a weight when i can they are almost full grown i beloeve fixing to start 10 weeks. They took the asprin about 830 thanks

No more aspirin. This is important since it is not recommended for squirrels and from what I found if it is given it can be given only once every three days... aspirin is risky and not recommended for squirrels. The ibuprofen is a good choice but we need a weight for proper dosage. Pictures would help if you do not have a scale right now.

:hello:hello How's your little guy doing? I'm concerned that he has been in pain since his fall. Have you taken him to a vet? Is he using his arm at all?
