Hey guys, haven't been here in FOREVER, but helping out our local rehabber with the babies again. Got a little bitty pinky in today with an eye injury. Seems partially healed, but he cannot close it at all. Eyeball is still there. Thoughts? I'm afraid if he can't blink or close it, it will shrivel and he will lose it permanently.

Oh that poor baby
Im going to suggest as a start to use an antibacterial ointment such as A&D, Neosporin, or Triple Antibiotic w. pain relief to keep it from drying out.

Oh my gosh, the poor baby. Nothing to offer but positive vibes :grouphug
It almost already looks like it dried out a bit as there looks to be some very small slight cracks in the surface? Could be a trick of the light or maybe ooze or something...hopefully :Love_Icon

I would imagine an ophthalmic ointment would be safer to use on the eye than just any ointment. I don't know what's safe to use on a squirrel but someone around here will know.
That injury looks pitiful! Poor little thing.

I agree with Sara, I would use only an ointment intended for the eye.

I would use Terramycin Ophthalmic Ointment.
Call your vets office and see if they would sell you some.
Is this little one on any antibiotics? I worry this could be
from a cat, who knows?

Oh yes, he is already on oral antibiotics. He is teeny. Truly pinky sized. The eye is already dried, was when I got him this afternoon. The wound is already partially healed too. I will still try and get the eye ointment though. Good idea!:hug
