Hi All:
I have 4 squirrels, 2 of them have had stuffed noses and now green snotty noses since intake.
I have treated with 2 different types of antibiotics which have not done anything.
I'm wondering if I can give them infant/children Sudafed or Mucinex to help them dry up the snot.
They look great, are eating great, pooping fine. They are about 6 weeks old.
Any ideas?

kim, one of mine came down with the sneezing snotties Wednesday night. I gave him a loading dose of Baytril and by the next day he was fine. However, yesterday morning he AND his sister were sneezing and very congested. Baytril again, and have continued it. As of right now everyone seems fine -- no snots, no sneezes. I have run into this twice before with spring babies. They have great appetites, are alert and normal, except they sound like hell and have snotty noses. It is probably viral.

Yup, I had them on Baytril for almost a week, now on Clavamox. I let the two snotty's sleep with me last night and I didn't sleep a wink, cuz poor little Dilbert was weezing and breathing with his mouth open. I had my sister buy me infant sudafed and she came back with Childrens Mucinex which doesn't dry up the snot.
I'll have to head out and get him some, I can't stand how he sounds....

Do you have Doxycycline?
I had some last year with suspected Bordatella.
Doxy did the trick.
Can you have a humidifier going and sort of
do a "tent" around them? It may help break up the congestion.

I have doxy in pill format. Honey's has seemed to clear up, so it is now just Dilbert. Yes I can make him a humidifier tent. or go sit with him in the bathroom with the hot shower running....
I gave him nasal decongestant but it doesn't seem to have heped at all.
I feel so bad for him! The sounds of his snoring is making me so stressed out.
I just took him out of the cage and have him laying in my lap. He is finally breathing quietly and is sound asleep. Maybe the second dose of the Sudafed worked.
I hate having sick babies :( :(
