Ten weeks old and still not eating squirrel block

I have been putting Henry’s Healthy Pet Baby Starter Squirrel blocks in with Little Girl since she was 5 weeks old. She plays with them, stashes them and eventually rips them up and picks out the pecans, but she doesn’t eat the rest. She eats 22 ccs of formula twice per day, and is showing NO SIGN of weaning herself in the next year. Please help. She has teeth. She is big and healthy. She chews up fresh branches. I haven’t put any other food in with her because I thought that would give her a better chance at really loving the blocks, which from what I’ve read are the best for her. Should I abandon the blocks and go to a mixed diet?

How old is she? Have you tried any other Henry's blocks or rodent blocks? Henry's makes several different formulas, one is actually called "picky eaters" and is suppose to be tastier. If you call Leigh at Henry's Pets and explain your situation I'm sure she will send you some samples of other blocks to try and see if your little one likes them. I've also found at some of the feed stores they carry bulk items like rodent block, so you can only purchase a couple to see if they will be eaten. You're right the best way to get them to like block is for it to be the only source of food. I hate to buy a large bag of some kind of food only to find my picky squirrel won't eat it. It then becomes very expensive feed for the wilds. Good luck!

Thanks. That is a good point: I haven't tried other blocks and I'm glad to know Henry's will send me some samples. We found her about ten weeks ago, and all signs pointed to the fact that she had just been born.

She LOVES her Fox Valley Squirrel formula. I wonder if I soaked the block in that to get her started eating it?

Yes try that! Or crush up the block and mix it with formula. Or yogurt. Try it cold, try it hot, try it frozen. They're sooo picky!! Have you tried making Boo Balls?
