Hello, I have a baby that is about five weeks old; one eye open the other beginning to. Anyway, she is bloated. My question is whether or not we can give her liquids during this "non feeding" time to get rid of the bloat. I've seen posts saying to give pedialyte in place of formula and I've seen posts that say to not give anything at all until the bloat is gone. I just want to make sure I am not contributing to the problem by giving her pedialyte in place of formula.
Thanks!

Do you have any infant gas drops (simethicone)?
Do not give anything until the bloat goes down... how long has she been bloated? Can you post a pic?

I do have Gas X and I gave a drop last night. Not sure how much to give. She is going to the restroom both pooping and peeing but she is definitely bloated. So until I get the bloat down no liquids at all? I am at work right now but I can post a pic later this afternoon. We were feeding her the Fox Valley Formula for squirrels less than 4 weeks. I switched to the other formula, over four weeks, last night. We weren't totally convinced she was bloated until we started looking for answers today. We were feeding every 3 to 3.5 hours about 3 - 4 ml per feeding. She weighs 62 grams.

I would give her another drop or two of the simethicone (infant gas drops).
How long has this been going on? I know we have had some reports (since Spring 2015?) of the FV 32/40 (pre-4 week version) not digesting well and causing issues for the pinkies / under 4 weeks.

It just started yesterday. She started to not want any formula and I noticed her belly was not going down in between feedings and she was going to the bathroom alot. I was thinking about trying some apple juice too but not sure how much.

I am going home here in a bit to check on her. To make sure I am clear, absolutely no liquids correct?

Sorry, I was away for a while... hydration is okay but no formula until the bloating is gone. You can bathe her in a warm bowl of water, up to her armpits and massage her belly to try and help with eliminating the bloating. That and the gas drops should help. :thumbsup

Okay, made it home and gave her some more Gax-X. Filled the sink up with lukewarm water and then massaged her belly. Nothing. Put her on the floor and let her walk around for a little bit and suprise surprise! She went alot. However, she was refusing any type of liquids. So hopefully that was because her stomach wasn't feeling well and I'll try formula when I get home. Thanks for the help!

Good news! Just make sure her bloat is gone, her belly is soft and squishy and not hard before giving any more formula! :thumbsup
