I'm jordan, Sara's daughter. Lauri just got back from the hospital she wants me to find out how we can help tumbleweed since my mom won't be here to give him those shots. Lauri says there's a area out here for tumbleweed but I don't know how this works. Can someone help me find it? Can someone help me with him? I'm going to be in charge of him tonight, I don't know about the rest of the week. I know how to feed him but I don't know how much he needs to take. I have my moms phone and this stays on her safari, can I get on here from my phone?

Hi Jordan. You should be able to access TSB from your phone if you have internet, but you may not be able to post - I can't with my phone. If you're posting under her account you'll have to log in on your phone at thesquirrelboard.com but you can make your own account to keep things separate if you need.
He has his own thread that you can post in here:
http://thesquirrelboard.com/forums/showthread.php?52434-Hope-for-Tumbleweed
I'm not sure how much she feeds him offhand, but it's probably there.
EDIT:
Found in my texts that he gets extra yogurt in the mornings, sweet potato mixed with his veggies during the day, and avocado sprinkled with calcium at night along with other foods. You probably know that, but figured it couldn't hurt to post

Oh my goodness! The title of this thread gave me a bit of panic.. at first I feared TW had managed to escape and disappear.
Jordan, do you mind if we change the title to "Help finding Tumbleweed's Thread" ??!?!

Thanks for the link, I'll go there and post. I really need to know how to help him since mom said he was dehydrated. She gave him a shot this morning, I can't remember what she calls it but it helps hydrate him. I have watched her do it before but I don't feel comfortable doing that. Is there something else I can do instead?
Lauri told me to look in his book and I would see how much he's been eating and drinking and to go by that. She might stop by here tonight when she gets back from the hospital to check on us and the squirrels but he's my responsibility until then

I don't mind if the title is changed. How do I change it?

The shots your mom is giving are to provide him with extra hydration, since he want to stop drinking when he doesn't feel good.
You can give him hydration - either plain water or water mixed with a bit of sugar or honey (about a teaspoon in a cup of water) with the feeding syringe just like he takes formula. You can give it to him a few drops at a time if you have to - give him a couple of drops and hold and love on him for a few minutes, then a few more drops, and so on.

An Admin will have to change the title for you.
Sounds like she Sub-Qed him this morning. Would you be able to try to force him to drink fluids through a syringe every few minutes to help?
EDIT: I see CM beat me to it :clap

I'll mix honey with water and give it to him like you suggested. Is it safe for him to have as much of this as he wants?

Yes he can have as much of it as he wants.

Thank you for the help. I really should've paid attention when Lauri was telling me everything but it was so much information to take in all at once and I was half listening because I was worried about my mom. Several hours ago my mom was helping someone on the side of the road and someone drove by too close and hit her. I don't know exactly what happened to her yet but they are running tests. My mom will kill me if something happens to tumbleweed while I'm watching him

It sounded serious. She was hit by the car and flew up on the hood and the windshield then she hit the ground. My grandmother is at the hospital and said she would call me when she knew more. I don't know how long my mom will be there. She wasn't awake, she hasn't been awake. He was taking this water but he doesn't want anymore now. He took 2 ml. Is that ok for now?

Oh Jordan....I'm praying for your momma....we all love her here...this you know:Love_Icon 2 mL's is good...but he does need more...I wish one of us was closer to help you out :( one trick we use is to put a little honey...or molasses, preferably, in his mouth...this will make them more interested in drinking or eating:great you could put a little on the tip of his syringe/nipple...see if that perks him up :great this may be a long night for you..and I'm sorry you're having to deal with such huge problems...you are handling yourself wonderfully :Love_Icon

I can give him water every 30 minutes. He's grumpy and acts like he doesn't want me messing with him.
My mom is awake! She has several broken bones and possibly internal bleeding. I don't know anything else right now

I didn't think I was ever going to find this post tonight when I got back on here tonight! I just got off the phone with my grandma and my mom seems to be ok. She says my mom is talking to her about leaving. She's ready to go home. They just knew she had several broken bones when she was brought in but nothing is broken except some ribs. The bruising they saw is just bruises, there is no internal bleeding. She's basically fine except she will be sore and she's beat up. don't worry about tumbleweed, I got him to take his formula with block in it and he ate some yogurt too. He's drinking his water also

Jordan, your mama is one of a kind--she was helping someone and was injured. It's pretty apparent she's raising an exceptional daughter too. We love you all so much. You're doing a great job with TW. I guess he's the little soul who brought us all together. When you see your mom, tell her we love her and give her a kiss from us (very gingerly of course as she's likely pretty sore).

Jordan - I can't tell you how relieved I am to hear your mom is alright. :dance:w00t
I am in the process of recovering from one broken bone (fibula) and surgery for plate and screws so I know how it feels to be beaten up. Your mom (who has several broken bones and probably a concussion) is the type of person to jump right back 100% even when she should start at 50% so help her pace herself!
Tell your mom how much we worried about her and how happy we are to hear that she will be alright in time.:bliss
