Hello Everyone,

my 1.5 year fox squirrel is going crazy for the main apartment window these days as the weather is heating in my area thinking that the window would be a great source of cold for him!!!!! I want to keep him from going the window in fear of someone seeing him outside.

Any idea's please

Thank you :grin2

Maybe you could get him a new toy or squirrel (cat) tree to distract him? If there is any furniture that assist him to ti to get to the window you could move it? My squirrel is less interested in the window when the blinds are closed.

I raised some babies in my college dorm (where no animals were allowed and squirrels were often shot at night (they weren't released there, don't worry!)) and their favorite place to run and play was my only window. Naturally, I was close to the housing office where the strictest of the strict worked AND I was facing the parking lot and a major highway.

I found there was no way to keep them from playing in the window, unfortunately. I tacked (oops) the curtain to the wall, I shut the blinds, nothing would keep them out. Once they realized I didn't want them there..well..you know how it is when you tell a squirrel no...

Do you have any windows in the area open? I'm guessing it's mating season right now where you are and they can smell a mate a million miles away. This will make them go nuts around the window. :grin2

Also, does he have a window sill to sit on? Try filling that up so he can't hang out by the window. Move things around so he can't as easily get up to the window, either.

I am sorry, but did you say "Shoot at night"!!!!! is that even legal to shoot squirrels on a public property ???

I mean is there anything I can spray on the window that will prevent him from wanting to go there??

I attended school in the middle of redneck/hillbilly territory. Legalities weren't even a thought. If you've ever seen Swamp People ( :yuck ), many people actually spoke similar to Troy or the two brothers and had the same values.

I don't know if it will work, but were it me I would experiment with a bar of Dial soap. Unwrap it an place on the sill... I have had luck with this stopping chewing, so I am wondering if the bar sitting there and the smell would keep him away?

Covering the window with a frosting film. So there's light but people or the squirrel can't see through, and there's no curiosity.
