Hi Everyone:grouphug

When I play with my Tweegie loose in my bedroom, I noticed the other day in two places some spots with what it looked to be dry blood and I was wondering if females squirrels get a period? (sorry if the question is dumb) but I want to know. Any and all the information you all may have will be appreciated.
Thank you very much,

Squirrels go into heat between two and four times a year, depending on the climate they're living in. I think it's possible that you could see a tiny bit of blood, but you should make sure she doesn't have a UTI (urinary tract infection) because that can cause blood or very dark urine. Has she been eating acorns or dark-colored berries? That can do it, too. How old is Tweegie?

This explains it well and thoroughly. Including the animals that do have periods. And societies in which fewer periods are experienced.

I will bet you anything it's from the acorns. Reddish urine from eating acorns has been scaring the crapola out of squirrel-lovers for years around here. :grin3
