Kaytee Clean and Fresh bedding, or Carefresh, both available on Amazon. :thumbsup
The first one Kaytee Clean, was recommended by another member just recently.
I haven't tried it myself, I still have many bags of Carefresh to use up first. :)

I use Carefresh litter. It is paper and in the bedding for small mammals area of the stores.

I have tried paper and corn Cobb litter, but Ellie has decided to use that to bury her goodies in, then pees on bottom of cage. I wondered if I tried something different if it may redirect her to use her litter box for potty instead of hiding stuff. :tap

Give her a bury box and a potty box. Put the potty box where she usually goes potty.

I do sometimes. Make it a deeper box with more litter to bury and roll around in.

Is sand or kitty litter OK to try or no?

I actually don't use either. Larry goes potty in his cardboard box and bury treats and food under blankets in several baskets and pet beds. Lol:grin2

Some people do use unscented scoopable litter successfully.

i thought there was a small animal litter, like cat litter, but for little critters?

i use the Clean & Fresh for the bottom of her bed box to help soak up any accidents over the night.

also, is it good to have a grid cover over the litter box like this littler pan? or is it better they dig in it?
